orionflood
As the title questions do any of you do live events and the many spring offs they relate to. I don't mean live audio but rather live video production and webcasting/live event streaming? How does the rates in that compare to location audio? Richard Ragon
I've done several YouTube live events, as well as some really large church type live events. Pay was the same as a short, but it's a bit more, shall we say, harrier.. No room for screw ups, or redos, so its more of a different animal. Constantin
I have done a few of those, mostly Q&A sessions of someone streamed live. They were video and audio, but I usually only do the audio part, and last time I was also in charge of the telephone conference where callers could ask questions. I charge the same as for PSM jobs
codyman
Just did one last night actually. It was a small venue with a guest lecturer that was speaking to an audience, but they were simulcasting it to the web. I was hired to record the on stage mics (2x Wireless headsets + 2 Wireless QA handsets). So I spit out ISO's to my HS-P82, sent a stereo mix to the livestream guy, and then a stereo mix to a guy in the projection booth that was controlling the overall volume of the PA speakers (both the live stream and booth guys took stereo XLR feeds from my omni outpouts of my Yamaha). Pay wise? Sadly, the same as though I would have been running just the live show although I will say it wasn't much harder in that all I had to do was calibrate the volume of the mix being sent to the livestream guy and the guy in the booth, after that, I could mix to that calibrated level and it was rather business as usual. mpsanos
I too did one last night ... CCM music 40 years of it. Did backstage interviews and took show feeds to the stream, a lite 4 hour show for me. I charge the same production day rate and any equipment / parts and pieces I bring to the event. mike
TomBoisseau
I do a fair bit of these. Usually it's the same rate for services, however they usually also need a lot of wireless. So at thhe end of the day, I usually make out better with equipment rental. Tom
Jeff Hall
I've done a couple of live corporate webcasts. Local crowd with their house system and 2 remote feeds. They were pretty simple--podium mic with a wireless handheld, a couple of faders for roll-ins, and two wireless handhelds for Q & A. Once a connection was established, the only problem was data buffering causing a couple of minor audio sync issues--but that was all downstream from me. Since it was corporate, the money was great, and they were maybe 5 hours total each. If they're all like this, bring 'em on!
CRAIG
I have done live webcast and satellite broadcast from IA Union venues and the IA crew got both regular pay and performance pay for the duration of the broadcast
