Ze Frias
While it is snowing heavily and it's pretty cold, I can't help but think that the scene makes for pretty pictures in Soho:

VASI
General question: Why in US give names in snow (Juno etc), hurricanes (Katrina) etc?
Q
General question: Why in US give names in snow (Juno etc), hurricanes (Katrina) etc? Basically, the National Weather service gives names to hurricanes to make them easier to track. They do not name winter storms. The Weather Channel started giving names to winter storms in an effort to increase ratings. They realised their ratings go up when a tropical storm gets a name and they are hoping the same will happen with they give a name to winter storms. pvanstry
Not much snow in the photos… IS it really that bad? Hopefully no power outage, does are not fun...
Ze Frias
Day 2: The snow isn't too bad yet (maybe 12 inches so far), but it continues to snow. No power outages yet either, but I doubt that would happen. Honestly the most dangerous thing that could happen is people going out there driving under the conditions with the slippery roads and whatnot. Rick Reineke
Not that I'm disappointed, but (Billy D's three feet) only amounted to about 4 inches where I am.. about 25 miles northwest of Manhattan.
Ze Frias
And it seems like the storm ended with just a mere 12 inches of snow (more or less) here in NYC. Not a big deal, but not complaining either. Signing off after a long day shoveling snow.
