Ryan Coomer
But what's the point of changing it for the worse? I guess their thought was that potentially losing a windscreen was better than potentially losing a microphone due to the mesh cap being separated from the body of the mic. Like I said, I've had customers needing to have their mics go out of commission and need to be repaired because of this, so it seems valid to me. Mirror
I've been using this mic since they first came out, so like 20 years, and i have never had the wind screen pull off the mesh cap.

Mirror
Don't get me wrong, I've pulled off many mesh caps on those lavs - I've even bitten one off by accident - but I've never had a windscreen pull one off.
jason porter
Same. What I have had happen, last week for the first time in 20 years...an damn COS-11 windscreen fall off by itself. The fit is not even close! I've been using this mic since they first came out, so like 20 years, and i have never had the wind screen pull off the mesh cap. Boomboom
Had the chance to compare the older windscreens with the new ones today; well, Sanken went towards ''world of crappy things'' with that ''new design''. My 2¢ ... probably what these $25 windscreens cost to produce now...
Peter Mega
Thanks for reviving this thread. Any more news on this? Are the old ones coming back?
MattinSTL
I just ordered two... I'll let you know what screens they have when I get 'em.
Jack Norflus
My understanding is they ate going back to the old design. But there may be some of the new ones still out there.
bmh
Just on a side note. I lost the actual mesh screen on my cos 11. can this be repaired. I' hate to lose a good working microphone because of this tiny piece of mesh. Thanks b.

I haven't used their service, but it might be a good option. Plus-24 is the U.S. Sanken distributor. If they have any spares you could easily glue one on -- just be careful not to get any glue on the capsule.
Boomboom
Wasn't there a discussion last winter about a DIY video or PDF ? If memory's good you need a special tool but there also was a workaround to make it without the tool... Anyway, they sell spare screens if you want to try. Eric
Audio Services (Toronto) repaired the mesh on my COS11 when it came off a while ago.
Glen Deakin
I believe there is a expensive tool that sanken sells that does this. Trewaudio I believe can also fix this as well .
