Different XLR cables in one chain?

Caio

Recommended Posts

Hello,

If using a headphone monitor with a XLR pass-through like the Rolls PM55P, does it matter if I am using cables with a different brand, spec?

If not, then in which case using different cables can become a problem?

Until now I have only used one cable from source to equipment, unless going through mixers or preamps.

Thanks.

only if you have OCD to the point that you can't funtion

I can only function for a short time without matching bits. No cables with different ends (black vs. nickel), etc.

I overheard my boom op tell my 3rd, "You can put that podium mic up there, but Robert's going to move it until it's exactly in the middle, so you might as well let him do it."

I'd also watch him sweat as he labeled my gear, making sure the symmetry was of a very high standard.

Hey, Robert, I think I have the same sickness, only probably much worse. Symmetry, everything lined up properly, parallel, left and right, all these things apply to even the simplest layout or position. I remember once I was having trouble getting to sleep and suddenly realized the problem: I had taken off my shoes and placed the pair beside the bed, the left shoe was on the right, the right shoe was on the left, how can this happen! Placing the shoes side by side with the proper orientation, I slept like a baby.

there's different kinds of salt - sea salt, rock salt, processed salt, iodized salt, and many more. one needs to figure out what kind of salt one needs to figure out what kind of salt one needs... once this is clear, every kind of salt could be possibly used, but with a major caveat - one needs to figure out what kind of salt one really needs, because it's all not the same.

Here's the size block you need for Soundtrane:
