I do not think this has been covered before.

I have friend going to cuba on monday- one man band producer/director/camera/sound/location manager etc....

He is going to bring a single wireless unit--  ( not sure which one- maybe a polsen-- never heard of it..  I told him you get what you pay for... )

Regulations for visitors bringing wireless gear?  Anybody have any first hand experience....

Thanks.

john.

When I went there about 2 years ago I was told wireless was forbidden.

I brought some in anyway and nobody checked - but we had a really good local fixer who got us ushered through customs. If we didn't have the fixer our gear would have been looked at I'm sure.

I was prepared to say they were microphone power supplies and production was prepared to pay for them if they got confiscated.

Good luck.

Thanks Jack,

my friend has no local fixer-  going in as tourist.  Just a dslr and backpack.  No crew.  And from i have read about the rules--- no wireless gear at all.

I was there in the mid 90s.  No real fixer ( a friend in the polish embassy..)  No carnet....  no issue with wireless.  No real freedom either.  Locked down in our hotel for several days....  and took all our producers cash at the end of the trip--  then we got our passports back....
