Mirror
So if I'm reading these pre-orders right for the CL-12 and the CL-12 Alaia, the only difference between the two is that the Alaia comes with the wooden side pieces. The price difference is $1000 between the two models. That is some expensive wood.

That makes the price difference worth it. Can't beat P&G faders.

MattinSTL
I would like the CL6 to have soft control where it currently has hardware control... low-cut for example. I frequently use 80hz cut... The button does 150... and even if you change it in the 688... hit the button and it's back to 150.

BAB414
So if I get the cheaper CL-12 option, what exactly will I be missing in my non-P&G faders?
Ze Frias
So if I get the cheaper CL-12 option, what exactly will I be missing in my non-P&G faders? P&G faders and the nice wood finish options.
BAB414
P&G faders and the nice wood finish options. I don't think you read my question correctly. Essentially, what's so amazing about those P&G faders? How will they affect the quality of my mixes?

Tom Visser
P&G faders also tend to be user serviceable - cleaning and maintenance is simple and straightforward due to the main chrome track, where the typical inexpensive alps / alpha / noble faders are generally just replaced entirely (but of course cheaper) when they get grimy or worn. P&G faders carbon tracks also don't wear out as quickly since the mechanical stress is mostly taken by the track too.

jerome mccann
Hi Paul, Just to check, when using the CL12, can you adjust trims on the 688 big (black) faders OR only with small (silver) trims for channels 1-6? If not, would this be possible with an update, or impossible as it's analog hardware? Thanks Jerome
Michael Wynne
Was able too get my hands on a CL12 demo at the Atlanta sound summit. The LED's are much brighter then the 6 series recorder and compariable to a 788t so it is truly workable in direct sunlight !
