Vincent R.
Got an email from post production, stating all the notes fields are empty, when viewing my files in wave agent and protools. I am 100% sure I put notes during recording. End of day I gave card to data wrangler for 3 backups. It is a job/documentary I did more than 6 months ago so I don't have the files myself anymore to check it out quickly, I asked post to send me a folder to check out myself. First thing I thought was: do they might have a copy of the files or a re-export from some picture editor or so? They do can see the track names, but all the notes are empty. I have no clue why the meta data disappeared, never had a complaint about that. Recorded with 664. You guys got a clue or tip?
johnpaul215
I've heard of metadata being stripped on import, and that wouldn't matter what recorded it. if they have the files as you transferred to them, and the info is missing, that sounds like a different problem. Weird.
Vincent R.
Yeah I am guessing in the dark here, since I don't have the files in front of me. Hoping I can shine a good light on it when I have a folder myself.
cmgoodin
Many editing systems and import software ignores the iXML chunk of BWF files and just pulls metadata from the bext chunk and sometimes selectively from that. If your notes were only in iXML chunk they may have been stripped on import.

Vincent R.
Thanks guys. Waiting for a response now and hopefully a folder with a day of footage, to check things out myself.
Joachim
The CSV-file of the sound report should be still on the disks of the data wrangler (and post). At least some metadata.
bralleput
Vincent where the recorded files M-files?AVID and final cut have problems with M-files recorded on the 664,they need an ALE in order to read the iXML data.Protools has no problems there.Have audiopost check if they can see all the data.Good luck! Joachim
Please elobarate on M-files and ALE. 664 file types are Broadcast Wave (with bext and ixml) and MP3.
bralleput
This is what I got from post (AVID) a few months back: they could not read the M-files metadata, but with P- files there where no problems. This has been discussed here before....Edit said they needed an ALE (Cantar used that) a tekstfilereader in order to be able to read the metadata....I gave up and gave picturepost P-files and Audiopost P and M flies (they want the M-files) That's the story on the elaboration of this issue. Midnitesnd
BWave poly = good BWave mono = Bad
bralleput
BWave poly = good BWave mono = Bad I'm not saying that.Audiopost (Protools) loves M-files ,Avid loves P-files.And it's BWF not BWave.
Vincent R.
Poly. I can downloading a zip folder now to check it out. My best guess is still they work with a copy of a copy or an export.
bralleput
Ok but even a copy of a copy should have the same info....
