CraigF
I'm giving it a "Resting Bitch Face" review gust looking at it
codyman
A thousand bucks for 8 mic inputs and timecode, huh? Well I guess the times have changed.... That being said, what does $1k really give you in terms of quality, that's going to be the one million dollar question...
Glen Deakin
Is that a hirose power connector I see on that?
Todd Weaver
Meh.
pindrop
My my, what a big color screen you have? Some manufacturers are moving ahead by leaps and bounds and other manufacturers are chasing up behind in leaps and bounds. Even Roland
Michael Panfeld
both a 4-pin Hirose and a 2-pole plug on the back From the LSC Facebook page: Not much beyond what you see in the photos. 8 mic/line inputs. Stereo out on TA3's. Sub Out on TRS. Timecode BNC I/O. Hirose 4-pin power. Dual SD cards. Scene/take file names and metadata. All metal construction. Looking at delivery later in the year at or around $1k US
Michael Panfeld
based on measurements using the pix. It appears to be 7.25" x 2" x 5.8" so, roughly the size of a 302, taking an inch off the width and adding it to the depth.
Vincent R.
$1000 dollar for 8 channels rec with timecode i/o, metadata? Not bad.

pindrop
Love the chunky screws holding it together, you have to undo about 20 tiny screws just to replace the backup button cell in the Nomad Mind you that's meant to have something to do with limiting RF spray so maybe I shouldn't complain? Nathaniel Robinson
It's tiny, very close to 302 I would guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Michael Panfeld
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ain4-2IsT4 So by freezing the video I can see a few details. It looks like the area below the meters has the 8 ISOs plus L and R. There are two lines of this. Left of that is .WAV and 48. These two lines appear to equate to the two mini SD cards. I take that to mean you can record the 8 ISOs plus the mix. Routing options are not clear. The far right bottom corner shows the time remaining on each SD card. The 8 boxes above the meters appear to show pan control, limiter button, phantom power button, and trim. It appears that these are menu selected, not hard switches. Above that are the time code, track run time, power source and level, TC source and frame rate. For the hard buttons: transport controls, headphone volume, menu and rotary selector, 3-way slate/tone/off lever. For each input there is a PFL button and what I am guessing is a track arm button. Obviously a fader knob that goes from 10 to 75 and what appears to be 6 LEDs (meters ?). All in all, I'd say this is a pretty complete mixer/recorder. If the sound is decent, a hella backup 8-input 10-track mixer/recorder at sub $1,000.
chrisnewton
Interesting product. I notice from the screengrab that the meter markings have a detente at -12. don't see a -20 marker.
Michael Panfeld
The video shows meters with -40, -30, -18, -12, -6, 0 freeze the vid around the 1:10-11 mark, enable HD, and enlarge
Michael Panfeld
Can anybody ID that Blue port thing on the back of the unit (right-side)?
Glen Deakin
Can it be for the microphone attachment's similar to the H6? Seems awkward to me but that's my guess.
Glen Deakin
Or maybe it's for the fader pack that will be released at next year at this time.
Michael Panfeld
Haha! Apparently, the rep at NAB has confirmed that it is for their mics.
Glen Deakin
So I was correct. Yay. That just seems so awkward.

Boomboom
TC, proper DC power connector...it might grab a part of Tascam's attempts at our market despite a higher price (but not necessarily musicians market). Interesting...
Marc Wielage
Well, it's better than one of those total crap Zoom recorders. I'm surprised that they didn't just build a timecode module inside vs. having only an external timecode input.
Michael Panfeld
Marc: there IS a TC module inside. If you look at the video closely, it is set to INT TC
Tom Visser
I applaud the fact that the screen is on the left side, seems more natural to me, and the nice dedicated single function transport controls on the front, a win in my book, assuming it sounds ok. codyman
If the sound is decent, a hella backup 8-input 10-track mixer/recorder at sub $1,000. My thoughts exactly, minus the hella.
