SZSilvers
Hi forum members, I have seen many posts about using an MS setup within the old Rode Blimp system (the one with ties), but haven't heard about its practicality in the Rode Blimp 2 with the Rycote Lyre suspensions. Is it possible? Or is there not enough room or stability for MS within the newer version? Thank you, Steven
Glen Deakin
Didn't know a new rodie blimp existed.
AB
I have both blimps. They are the same dimensions from what I can tell (In fact I have the old extension on the new blimp because I am using it with the Rode NTG8 mic) This should be possible. SZSilvers
I am wondering if the lyre suspension is stable enough on the blimp with a second mic. I do not have either one right now. Trying to decide.
Christian Spaeth
I have used blimp 1 for MS with a heavy mic, and since there are rubber bands going to four directions this works well. Judging from the Lyre mounts I have I wouldn't recommend putting two mics onto them. But maybe you can replace them with stronger ones. There are several strengths for Lyres depending on the microphones you'll use.
SZSilvers
Thanks Michael. It looks like I'll be getting the rode blimp 1 then.
