Todd Weaver
I programmed a microcontroller to listen the the switch that was previously going to the serial port on nomad, now taken up by RX-12. It emulates the keyboard commands for roll and stop and works like business as usual using the USB port.

JonG
Will this work with a nomad 10?
Todd Weaver
No. You must have keyboard support. This is a separate piece of internal processing hardware that is not included in the Nomad 10. I came up with the idea and then had to send my 10 in for the upgrade to 12. When it returned to me, I had the hardware and software ready and it works very nicely. It's so killer watching all the transmitter packs displayed on the RX-12 go from STOP to RECORD every time I flip that roll switch that also controls my Deva and movieslate. David Marien
Hi Todd, Great idea, elegantly executed. Are you using an Arduino platform, or something even simpler ?

Todd Weaver
ATMEGA, yup. I used arduino to code and load.

Wandering Ear
Todd, how is that system rolling movie slate? Does it interrupt the tc stream, and use movieslates auto roll following tc? I haven't found that to be very reliable, but I would love to be able to have movie slate transport follow my recorder.
Todd Weaver
That's it. Gr-1 timecode switched through my switching device.. It works great with the proper settings and cabling. I'm about to split off that feed to do the same with boom recorder so I can use those 32 channels of Dante without losing the Deva for something like a 970.. I think I posted under equipment with photos when I got that remote roll stuff working originally.

Michael Miramontes
I want one! Better start cranking these out before the vendors do. Just saying.

gurkan
did you used V-USB on it ?
Todd Weaver
It can probably be done with v-usb and a chip. I made it two different ways. This one is running on a board that has usb support. Not sure if the processor on nomad will recognize v-usb library on ATMega as a keyboard or not.
