ProSound
Looking to buy a Megaphone to add to my package. Fanon seems to be the brand everyone sells but wanted some user feedback on recommendations on which model I should buy. thanks
afewmoreyears
None...LOL Fanon was normally the work horse.... yes... I carried one for years.... production always had one... mine did not find very much use... it did get broken by production a few times.. I ended up NOT carrying one any more... That being said, i always disliked listening to them... so when they did not have one, and nor did I ...I was relieved I didn't have to listen to it... The rental for it also did not out due the pain of listening to it... I was happy to no longer own one... unless you are on a long project that will actually make you some dough... Note.... I used to unscrew the switch from horn to mic and put it on backwards to have a laugh at the expense of the AD that when he went to talk, the horn went off... That was always funny and never seemed to get old... Best of luck whatever you choose..
RPSharman
What Bob said. I'm not even sure where mine is. Most ADs hate them. If required, I go for VOG and extra rental. Fanon is the brand, however. I run a strip of 1" cloth tape around the clip that holds the end on and the batteries in. Always seems to pop off. ProSound
Thanks for the feedback. My upcoming project has a number of scenes in a hard to access wooded area with 150 BG I am pretty sure the VOG will be hard to get set up. I had a member offer me a used Fanon for $75.00 shipped so I think i may just do that to have another option.
Christopher Mills
Since Radio Shack/Realistic no longer exists.... Fanon... get it insured...
johnpaul215
I still have a Radio Shack one, and it worked well. It only got used it in very specific situations where a crowd needed to be addressed or something. We used them on a rowing movie to communicate to the rowers. I had to tape off that siren switch. People thought it was a power switch or something. So loud!
mikewest
Anchor - I have a small one and a big one mike
johnpaul215
If you need a rugged one with rechargeable batteries, these are becoming pretty common in the rowing/sports world: http://www.nkhome.com/rowing-sports-products/audio/0100 The Blue Wave costs more than the anchor, but tougher and waterproof. If you use it enough, it's worth a look.
