r.paterson
Hello Has anyone used the audio root uPRE mk11 preamp, and if so what are you thoughts, thinking of it to feed mono/stereo boom mic into my zaxcom maxx aes inputs and keep analogue 1-4 for radio mics.. Thanks Richard

r.paterson
Hi rado thanks, it was for the aes out I was considering the audio root, to feed aes 1 and 2 in my Maxx but now concerned the tx in Maxx might bleed rf hash into the audio root preamp..seeing if I can get one to test...thanks..richard
Derek H
There's still the problem of how to mix ch 5 & 6...
r.paterson
Hi Derek yes the 5-6 issue has me thinking to try boom on aes. And use virtual fader to control boom which is usually on its own channel on mix and leave 1-4 for radios, Richard
Richard Thomas
I know another mixer who's used one of these with the nomad to get additional preamps (for audio ltd radios), it works
RadoStefanov
About the channel 5-6 problem. A small 2 channel passive attenuator will be very valuable for maxx.
Derek H
About the channel 5-6 problem. A small 2 channel passive attenuator will be very valuable for maxx. Kills your ISO track too though.. Still a useful option. On a related note. Turns out there is built in attenuation on inputs 5&6 designed so that even a hot line level source won't clip 5&6. I had Zaxcom mod my Maxx to remove this attenuation so that the inputs play better with analog wireless that don't put out a hot line level. Works great, of course you have to be careful not to clip it now if you're feeding it with a mixer.
r.paterson
On hold at moment thought using for boom Mic mono or stereo into aes inputs on maxX would be easier on virtual fader and leave the 4 x (real) faders for mixing radios and boom on virtual..the lack of lImiter on the UPRE has me rethinking my next move..thanks for replies..Richard
Matthew L Hankins
r.paterson---did you give the uPre MKII a try on your MAXX? I bought two of them and one of the two boxes is really creating a lot of RF spray in my audio bag. I was wondering if you had any experience on this to share since making your original post. So now I am looking at either finding a way to shield them from blasting the world with RF or else pulling them from my bag and starting over. r.paterson
Hello I had a lot of rf from the audio root and changed my mind I didn't go into screening the audio root uPRE..sorry not much help..I tried out a few analogue to aes converters and they all had rf spray in bag so it wasn't confined to audio root uPRE...richard
