vale
Hi, I'm just asking for a friend... he's looking for a good book, or guide, or something similar, concerning the postproduction of a movie, not only by sound perspective but in general. So, scheduling, budgeting, all the correct steps from the set to the completed film that goes in the theaters. I've tried to search on the forum but I wasn't able to find something appropriate, so just asking. Thanks in advance, Vale.

Marc Wielage
There are woefully few books on post-production or workflow, particularly those that are up to date. The best book that's come out in the last 10-15 years was Barbara Clark's Guide to Postproduction for Film & TV: Managing the Process, but it's 10 years old and way out of date. Somebody needs to take the core of this book and update it for 2K and 4K workflows, Red, Alexa, Sony, BMD, Canon, sound, digital color-correction, VFX, metadata, editing, and all that other stuff. But it's an enormous subject and very hard to corral in one place. The essence of how to set a schedule and come up with a budget is still valid, but a lot of the deliverables (35mm mag tracks, videotape, etc.) no longer applies to the modern world. Things change fast in post. Edited June 5, 2015 by Marc Wielage
