jawharp
Local 52 is accepting applications this week starting September 14th for 5 days. I highly encourage any non-union boom operators to put an application in. There is currently a big shortage in available competent boom operators in the NY area. BAB414
+1 It's extremely busy and we need all the skilled people we can get. Not just booms, but utilities as well.
atheisticmystic
Sounds like a great opportunity. If youre an OMB, is there an advantage to being a union boom op ? Best, Steven
azw
I'm interested, but am I mistaken or does the application require OSHA certifications and "800 MPIPH hours?" How could one possibly get all that done in the next 5 days?
Solid Goldberger
Shame that they're having a shortage of good people after rejecting so many qualified applicants for the past decade. E.

Jan McL
Not for nothing, also desperately need wonderful 2nd Booms/Utility folks... Get your application in now, take the OSHA courses when you can. Hopefully that will work. Presumably you have kept your pay stubs and have 800 hours already. Will somebody report back re: OSHA course timing and paperwork required for proving the 800 hours? Good luck everybody!
Jan McL
It would behoove all you folks who want to get into Local 52 to find each other and stay in touch/share information. Also good to make contact with those who are or have recently gone through the process. These will be your life long colleagues, your 'class' if you will. The Class of 2015. Jan McL
Thanks, didn't know we could apply without having taken the OSHA courses. Missed out this time around but I'll be ready next time. Heard from a potential applicant that one must already have the OSHA courses first. YMMV. [Insert sad face.]
johnpaul215
I missed out on this too. I had no idea the freeze was over. Also, not totally sure it's worth it for me to apply at this point. There's not a huge volume of union work in Pennsylvania that is available to Pennsylvania residents. The bulk of the work here isn't union stuff.
