Nick Flowers
Why anyone but a total obsessive would be interested in this - and that describes me quite well - I cannot say. But this link http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ takes you to a display that not only gives you the current electrical power consumption in the UK, but also from what sources it is fed: coal, gas turbine, hydro, etc etc. If you like this sort of thing, I am glad to have passed it on; if it bores you, my apologies. It sometimes takes quite a long time to load, be patient.
Tom Duffy
Very cool, lots of interesting data there. Having seen that, I had to find one for California. There's probably better, but here's a starting point: http://www.caiso.com/outlook/SystemStatus.html

chrisnewton
Interesting chart Daniel. Noticed that here in Canada our per capita energy usage is nearly twice that of the UK. We are power hogs for sure, but it does get cold in the winter. Iceland has by far the highest usage, follwed by some of the Gulf states. Hot 'n cold! daniel
Iceland uses geothermal (expressed in kgoe) so their usage has little environmental impact. Less so the rest of us.
