codyman
Trying to think of an easy/cheap talkback solution to my boom op. He's on wireless boom via an MM-1 coupled to an SMQV but I'd like to wirelessly be able to communicate with him. Since his headphones are already hooked up to the MM-1 and it provides an auxiliary TRS input, is there a way to maybe wire a standard set Motorola walkie's earphone output to that TRS input? I know on the side of the walkie, there's a 3.5mm and 2.5mm? jack (not sure which one is the output vs mic input). Any thoughts on this? Steve Foy
Absolutely, in fact the MM-1 Manual suggests exactly that.
johnpaul215
The walkie works. I use a Sennheiser G2 because it's smaller and lighter, and I have one around. I tried a consumer grade walkie (small and light), but there was an annoying chirp every time I keyed. With the model I tried, there was no way to turn that off. Glen Trew
The walkie 1/8" connector is the output.
JonG
I use a comtek as a PL back to the Boom Op via MM1
codyman
The walkie 1/8" connector is the output. Thanks, Glen. Hooked up a standard 1/8" cable to a 1/4" adapter and I was in business just like that! Love this MM-1!
Freeheel
Set walkies can have enough power to throw thumps or clicks (or worse) into your audio when you push to talk. I would be careful about using the walkie to chat during a take. Not sure if you intend to do that or not... cheers, Brent Calkin

I'm just using it to communicate between takes and to announce that "sound speeds"...
