RadoStefanov
Fellow soundmixers,Some production companies are trying to sneak "liquidated damages" in start paperwork where you agree to pay $500,000 to the producer if you breach any terms of document because "it is extremely difficult or impracticable to determent" the precise amount . Arbitration Agreement is enough for me. BE AWARE.
codyman
Where did you encounter this? Does sound like some sort of crap that above the line would try to pull though...
RadoStefanov
it is a good company. This is something new they just came up with.
codyman
it is a good company. This is something new they just came up with. That's crazy. Did you successfully argue with them about it I hope?
RadoStefanov
No Argument. Just said I can not "per my attorney's advise" sign such document.
Marc Wielage
That's a way bogus contract. I refused to sign one of those a couple of years ago with a Pittsburgh producer, and he insisted it was a "standard agreement" all his vendors agreed to. No way would I agree to being liable for any production problems. Can you imagine that? "You delayed the show an hour, so we want you to pay $500K!" Stupid. At some point, they have to trust us to make a best effort on our work.
johnpaul215
I wonder if they would sign a $500,000 agreement with you if you do not get your check on time.
