David Waelder
That particular keyboard certainly looks small and easy to bring along. Let me share an inexpensive alternative. This is the keyboard Chinhda selected to supply with each sound cart. Not quite so small as the unit recommended by Pascal but it is flexible, rugged, and very inexpensive @ $14.95. It's available online but the shop (All Electronics Corp.) also has a store in Van Nuys so LA area people can pick it up locally. http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a-store/item/KBD-23/FLEXIBLE-KEYBOARD-USB-CONNECTION/1.html Now, having just recommended it, I see that it is presently back-ordered. But it is usually a stock item. David Waelder
Jeff Wexler
I found this online, don't know if anybody saw it before but i tought it might be of interest to someone. http://usb.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00666 Pascal I saw that line of keyboards and they look really good and reasonably priced. It is highly unlikely, sadly, that this keyboard would work with the Deva which has had a pretty bad track record regarding keyboards. - Jeff Wexler
cmgoodin
I found this online, don't know if anybody saw it before but i tought it might be of interest to someone. http://usb.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00666 Pascal One problem I see with this super-compact keyboard, there are no dedicated cursor control keys. (arrow keys) It requires you to hold down the FN key to operate the cursor controls. Since the only FN key is on the opposite side of the keyboard this makes navigating menus on various HD recorders difficult with one hand or would make it a 2 handed operation. Since we have no mice to navigate on most of these stand alone machines that may be a problem. Also since it is USB only It may not work with SD744t and the CL1. It might be handy for those using Boom-Recorder or Metacorder though when used with a touchpad or trackball for cursor movement. ---------Courtney

But it is usually a stock item. David Waelder I've used this flexi keyboard with a 702T rig on my cart for over 2 years, and like it very well for its compactness and weatherproof(ness). It has a little issue w/switch bounce, so if you want to start/stop record with it you have to be resolute and not push the key slowly--I ended up rolling from the CL1 or the record button on the machine. For all other functions, data entry, etc it is fine. You can see it on the cart in a pic in Jeff's Galleria des Cartes--it's a relatively new pic so near the top, and almost the only horizontal Magliner type cart there. The keyboard is on top of the M6 mixer (fits perfectly). This smaller keybd looks like the one Scott F put in a compact 744 bag rig a few years ago--there are pix on the forum somewhere. I'd miss the function keys--but if you were pressed for space and needed to type in complex scene names etc into an SD recorder I bet it would be great. Guest jimg
I picked up a Solidtek USA ASK-3100U a few months ago at a computer yard sale: http://www.solidtekusa.com/ultra.htm Small with dedicated cursor control keys. Unfortunately, I didn't read the specs - it draws too much current and requires a higher voltage than the SD CL-1 can provide, but it's small. Best regards, Jim

It works perfectly and for some reason I not even need to press the function key when I need to use the cursor keys (scrolling through the menu). Daniel McIntosh
Check out the value added features on this unit, photo-linked from the page Pascal linked to. A "Virtually Indestructible" keyboard wedded to a internet phone unit. http://usb.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00507&cat_id=034&dept_id=
