Philip Perkins
Hirose for DC power to RX? Or are they direct outs or?
fieldmixer
Internal power distribution. Will soon feature 4 hirose power outs and 2 hirose power ins.
RadoStefanov
Nice. My old design before I took the distro out and just connected everything directly to simplify the setup. Another thing I did is triple split power cable from one output. Ideally I want to have solder connections instead of cables.
efksound
Quote Looks very nice ! I suppose this blocks you from using at least XLR input 1 and maybe 2 if not using 90º Hiroses

fieldmixer
thats right Daniel, exactly. @efk and Martin. Reg Xlr no boot still ok. But, planning in the works to make a minimal ultra light mini snake. No shells.
RadoStefanov
In my first OneUnit prototype I had a hot swap " IE have a special card for that" and also charging while the batteries are inside the unit. But after a while I decided that there is no reason to carry the second battery extra weight. 5 hours is plenty for my use

If you have the double AA's, isn't that your hot swappable power?
fieldmixer
I gave up waiting for the promised ability to recharge those cells. The switch plate is blocking off that access now. I wont be carrying a second battery. Im going lighter or going home. Unless im mistaken. Can rechargeable cells in the caddy be charged by an ext power source yet? fieldmixer
Rado may i ask if you can post or point to a snap of your old design with the distro? Id enjoy seeing that.
Derek H
I think Zaxcom gave up on that project to avoid the inevitable explosions and fires that would have happened when users put alkalines or lithiums in and forgot to turn the charging off. When I do that, I then recharge the NiMH batteries. The Nomad will run an easy hour on the batteries, and thats way longer than I will need. I really like the master the switch. I guess no room to recess it into the chassis but what about attaching something to chassis that goes round it. Same height/depth as switch. I used a plastic plumbing element in a similar way to 'protect' the rotary selector on our washing machine from our 3 year old who seemed to have different ideas from mum and dad about what program we should be washing our clothes with : )
fieldmixer
The switch is thankfully firm with a rubber boot surround. Its a touch recessed behind the bnc's. In the bag or on a shelf, you have to want to switch it. Cables being made now. More pics coming soon)
fieldmixer
This is it. Red Master switch powers Up nomad and rx1, side switch one powers rx2, side switch2 powers rx3, side switch3 powers cam hop tx AND ifb tx. micro ultralight minimal 3ch snake with Xlr shells removed machining done to the rf combiner boxes and rx cables painfully soldered directly to the boards. (Anyone happen to have sma rubber boot/dust covers? I need6) small mod to the sna antennas removing the metal mounting points. https://vimeo.com/197831179 https://vimeo.com/197831269
