Smallest 48v power supply

Yeah, 22v mercury batteries, with one contact on each end, made for OLD radio gear I guess.  I bought the PSU new in the early '80s.  Works great if you can find these batts, but still not really a whole lot smaller than the Denecke.  Maybe you could make something from a kit or plans that had "flying" leads?  It's the XLR connectors than make the Denecke so big.

Have the Ambient. Very light and reliable, works with normal AAs and draws little power. Only negative: It's nearly impossible to mount it somewhere without accessories.

I have the Ambient one too - I found a tiny neoprene belt pouch for generic digital cameras that fits it perfectly for a few dollars that I cable-tied to one side of a Rycote shock mount handle, with a Lectro SM pouch on the other side for a wireless boom. Feels about the same as a plug-on in a similar position.

I use the Kortwich power supply, very small and light, runs for a day on a 9V, and sells at a decent price.

Hi Christian
Are you using the VCP-M1 ?
There is no mention of a 9V powering possibility on the Kortwich site.
All the Kortwich preamps seem to be powered only through a Hirose.

The second item is the phantom power box. It runs on a 9V. Very satisfied with it. Works with all my mics (Schoeps etc.)
