Why do RA multi pair cables for SD552 and 664 only have mono audio return?

Hello,

Why do Remote Audio multi pair cables for Sound Devices 552 and 664 only have mono audio return? Is the limiting factor the Hirose 10pin connector or the "break-away" connector, or is it the total number of wires in the mult cable?

Do any other multi pairs for the 552/664 offer stereo audio return? If so how are they different?

Thank you.

My PSC cables have a 2 channel rtn......

Does the PSC have a shield on the timecode signal? It seems like RA implies that they went with mono return so they could shield the time code signal. I am curious to learn if the one or the other choice is limited by the choice of cable or the choice of connectors etc.

Thank you.

Thanks for the info. Curiously, the ambient website describes all 4 of their 552 break away cables as having a mono return.

Oh, they have new cables with TC. I didn't know them because I bought one long ago and never thought about breakout cables any more. I have this one http://ambient.de/en/product/hbs10y10-35w/
