RPSharman
Hi, There's a pretty good deal on a couple of DPA lavs in England. I'm in LA at the moment. Trying to figure out whether it's better to pay 20% VAT and have my wife mail the mics to me as personal property, or have company send the mics here and pay US import duty and California use tax. Anyone with personal experience want to chime in with ideas? Robert
kosty
How much is the US import tax and the use tax? If an European dealer ships outside of the EU, he doesn't charge the national VAT (20%). It will be less trouble in case the parcel gets damaged or lost during shipping if you order from the dealer directl
RPSharman
It's a dealer in the UK. Use tax is about 10% - duty may be 0-5%. I don't know. That's what I'm asking.
chrismedr
If you stay long term in the US, I would import it directly. If you plan to go back to the UK, then I'd have it shipped there (even more if you have a VAT number). Main reason is if something happens which involves insurance, it will be easier in the country it was legally imported.
RPSharman
I think I'm just gonna count how many 4071s I have, and see if I really need them :-)
Constantin
I think I'm just gonna count how many 4071s I have, and see if I really need them :-) Well, if you change your mind again, you should probably buy your mics before Friday. Tariffs could go up considerably
