Aaton at NAB:

"Wysicom[sic] will exhibit the Aaton-Digital CantarMini digital 16 track sound recorder on a new lightweight support compatible with Wisycom’s receivers, giving direct access to the user interface of the receiver from the Cantar allowing set-up of options or channel frequencies. (Wisycom booth C856)

Did anyone see this on the Wisycom stand at NAB?

I saw the Aaton Wisy demo at Trew Audio the other day. It was seriously impressive. THey're not quite there yet in terms of how to display multiple receivers and menus to allow seeing 2 or 10 receivers, and how to select the one you want to adjust, etc. But they're very close!

Wisy has some seriously amazing tech, but if anything rather big and heavy transmitters. The receivers will be across all blocks, and ought to be able to tune in other manufacturers, and their new antennas can not only supply varying amounts of gain, but can also apply an RF filter to block out everything on either side of where you're transmitting.

I reckon Mini is quite a cool piece of kit. All the quality of the X3 but scaled back. I am quite a fan of much lighter TA3s - the 5 pin XLRs on my X3s are all converted and I use the Rean XLR3 to TA3 converters. Horses for courses.

It is definitely 4 x transformer balanced mic/line plus 2 dedicated asymmetric line inputs. A total of 6 analogue.

How did you do the 5 pin xlr to ta 3f mod?

Anyone had new and innovative ideas for a relatively practical and comfortable bag for the Mini ?

About Protogear bags.. i find them really cool but they are mainly constructed with the receivers between the operator and the recorder. Considering bag-work and counting with all that awkward front surface with the headphone output, I feel that this arrangement makes it harder to manipulate the faders and see the display.

And what do you guys think about the use of hydra making Mini's bags even more compact and almost turning the visualisation of the receivers unnecessary ?

I’ve 3d printed a box for the receivers. There is no cover for mini, but it doesn’t need. If i have to work in rain, i will use a rain poncho.
The box and the mini assembled with a screw at the mini‘s bottom.
The sennheiser IEM transmitters are fitting at the strap. (2pieces series2000 transmitter with 100mw)

so there is 6wireless and 2 ifb line, and i have a pair of mic/line analog input.
this rig is cca 4.5 kg with batteries.
it can work for 4 hours with 2 aaton batteries. (At least 3,5hours)

Very nice. Hydra? MCR54? Is possible to post pics of how you fixed this to MiniX3 I'm guess through the orange body when not populated. I like the way you continue to use the same 'button hole' (sony) style strap.
