The Opposite of Mixing?

New York Times has an article today about how the U.S. Labor Department tracks the skills needed for most jobs, in terms of things like "hand strength", "acute sense of smell", or  "mathematical analysis". The article lets you enter the name of your job, and kicks out which job it considers to use the exact opposite set of skills.

There's no entry for "production mixer" or "sound designer" or "postie"... but it will accept Sound Engineering Technician. Guess what.... we're not nuclear physicists!

(Yeah, I know. The article isn't rocket science either, and its analysis has lots of faults. Think of it more like a party game.)

The article is definitely just a party game but if you take a look at the detailed report on the actual website a lot of it is pretty accurate:

One of my favorites was under the abilities section: Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.

Interesting...I had to take so many physics classes in order to get my sound engineering degree (I'll admit they were mostly electronics, but had a regular physics AND an acoustics class in there) that with all of them if I earned a sound engineering degree at the school I went to I ended up with a physics minor. OH, we also had to have through calculus, so it was pretty math intensive.
