Started new Sound company in Arizona, Phoenix and Tucson

Recommended Posts

Hi,
We have just opened a large film location sound service company based out of Tucson AZ with Rogelio Camarillo as our senior engineer. Our equipment is top of the line and we have a combined experience level of 40 plus years as sound engineers. Having a bilingual (english/spanish) professional staff rounds out our skill sets to adapt to a diverse client base. I have taken the liberty of listing a few direct links to our website, "Production Hub" and FB listing. Please give us a like on FB and feel free to bookmark our web site for your next project.
Thanks,
Arizona Sound Sculpture

I'm also available locally in Tucson from mid-October through February with a 688, 633, Lectro wireless, lockits, Comteks and much experience in film, tv, commercial and corporate work.  I charge full rates though, would never undercut my Phoenix sound brothers and sisters.

Ya, rate seems low. And give your site a good proofreading. For example, on your Rates page, Sennheiser is misspelled a few times. Maybe provide more info about what models recorder and mics you have. And do you have any clients you can mention? Even if they're in the theatrical world (just a guess from seeing how many B3 lavs you have), that'd be OK.

Not end of the world stuff, but the spelling errors and lack of previous/existing client info might turn off some persnickety producers.

Hope this helps a little.

Jpb2,

Welcome....

First, put on a fire suit.....

If you had to talk to others to know what proper rates are you are in fact a bit out of the loop...  40 years of combined experience and you don't have a handle on this of all things..? Pursuing student films after all those years?

There are many of us HERE IN AZ that are harmed by rate structures such as yours..  We have been working for years to keep rates at levels where we can actually run businesses, feed families and make a living... There are a few good people here doing sound and have been for years with extensive packages...This is not really helpful...  In a place like AZ, there is NO across the board rate structure.  The jobs vary way too much as far as needs and wants.  You should never charge for everything in one pop... with a "set Price" Engineering rates, and equip. rates... Keep them separate..  Keep them in line with area norms..

My advice is to get rid of any claims of "Large Film Location sound package...."  It is not...  Beginner at best...  4 Comteks ? Maybe add a zero after the four..,  G3s top of the line..?  Your posting on a professional forum, not spieling to Producers...

Compete, but please try to do so with your craft and fellow brothers and sisters in mind.  You don't want to be "those guys" in our community.

Ask yourself this, "Would you rather charge proper rates and be considered for recommendation by other professionals in the sound community, or charge sub-standard rates and therefore considered a clueless amateur by experienced mixers.

In the first case you make more per job and get more referrals for gigs, in the second, you make less per gig and no working professional will recommend you.

Do the math -- one is a living, and the other is a hobby.
