Alexander Romanov
Hello everyone from Moscow, this fantastic forum thanks for him, I want to add antennas to my bag, I use Mini-Circuits ZFSC - 8-43 and PSC PERIODIC ANTENNA, how long should the cable from the antenna be so as not to use the ufm 230 amplifier? jason porter
I believe 10-15 feet is fine, as long as you are using good quality (low loss) cable.

Jason is correct as far as cable goes. In fact 30 feet of RG-58 has about 2.5 dB of loss which is small enough to not need an Amp. However, the splitter is 8 way giving you about 9 to 10 dB of loss for each output. That is, the antenna signal is divided by 8 for each output plus a little more. The ufm230 can make up this considerable loss if you are trying to work longer distances. Set the ufm230 gain to just make up for the 10dB of loss. Ideally the amp would be at the antenna but 10 feet of cable from the antenna to the amp input is perfectly ok. Best, LarryF
