Imac for Protools 10 OR 12 and a 5.1 system?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Has anyone been using an IMac with protools and a 5.1 system. If yes, what are the pros and cons of it?

Been thinking of getting 21.5 inch soon.

Please let me know your thoughts about it

Thanks

I’m using a 27 inch I Mac 3.8Ghz with 64 GB of Ram. I’m running HD12 with Thunderbolt Native Hub and an Omni/ HDi/o and C24 with a 5.1 system.

it was frustrating having to buy a USBC hub for Thunderbolt. But it works

Feel free to ask me a specific question.

Hello,
iMacs are very powerful and they have a fantastic screen but keep in mind that they do make noise. This especially happens with bigger sessions in PT and can be annoying depending on what you do (p.ex. quiet ambience track cutting etc.)
We are currently replacing 2 iMac suites with Mac Pros (current models) to be able to have the computer and all other noisy equipment such as the Avid Omni interfaces int the machine room.

Best,
Philippe
