Recharge-able comtek headsets?

I assume you are talking about wireless??

There has been discussion about this.  As of now the only real option is Bluetooth, which as of now is not really viable.  You would need to place a base station at video village, but you risk the range being too poor for people wandering around.  The other option is to plug a smaller Tx into an IFB receiver of your choice.  But then the director is carrying two bits, not attached to the headsets, so more things to put down and lose.  Battery life will also not get you through a production day, so you would need at least two sets for every person.  Expensive and NOT better.

actually, there are a number of alternatives, though they have not been adopted by the "production sound" community.

The largest (by far!) customer for Comtek's is the assisted listening market segment, and Comtek is not the only player!

The ADA federal law requires public venues to make available listening assistance devices, and they have also been quite popular for tour guide applications, too.generally there are multiple RX's involved.

The various vendors offer a number of options, and many include built in rechargeable batteries, and fit into multi-station charging racks.  Our little niche market segment is so small that the other manufacturers do not include us in their marketing efforts at all.  Generally these devices are built to lower price points, and "production sound" has been moving to higher quality (with higher price points).
