newzhack
What better place to ask, hopefully? What would be the best battery powered Bluetooth portable sound box? Occasionally I would use it for production purposes. It would be nice to play back some test audio on shoots for nervous clients but I mostly want it for my garage and porch where I sit when the weather is nice. sonicfruit
I like my Bose Color SoundLink, which I picked up at Best Buy while on location 3 years ago -- sounds good, reliable, has aux input, indestructible, waterproof, small enough to carry in a backpack. Mine is holding its charge for shorter periods now, but I'd probably get another one when this one dies. Hope this helps.
Rick Reineke
Monoprice has some great deals. I picked up a DeepBlue BT speaker that sounds better than most of those expensive 'designer' speakers in the big box stores. It even has an aux. 3.5mm input. hobbiesodd
A fellow soundie makes these and they’re really fantastic: https://demerbox.com/ It sounds great. It’s waterpoof. It floats. It’s nearly indestructible. It has a 50 hour (!!) battery. It has storage.... AND it’s hand made by one of us! Support each other! Cheers, Evan
EnotsMedia
Whoa, Love this DemerBox! Got to get one. Thanks for putting it on my radar. Music is life when I’m on the road!
Marc Wielage
That DemerBox is a very clever idea.
johngooch
I Love mine... Been using it on a job with lots of water for a god mic. Put a lectro ifb inside connect to the Aux in port( mini ) and viola- self contained waterproof wireless speaker system... or you can use bluetooth if that works better for you.. 13324
Wirecutter has researched hundreds of reasonably-priced portable Bluetooth speakers. But I don’t think anything is going to top the DemerBox for production use, that thing is impressive.

EnotsMedia
Just picked up a DemerBox! They have some deals on “scratch and dent” models...I mean it’s a Pelican...how “scratch and dent” could it be...hit them up!

EnotsMedia
Seriously...the sound is so clean, deep bass, crisp highs. I can’t believe I never heard of them before seeing this thread. Also there’s something so familiar and comforting about it being made out of a Pelican. Maybe it’s that we use them day in and out....I do have to add that one of the most underrated features is no ANNOYING start up / pairing tone or music. It’s just on or off. Like it should be. Definitely a great addition to my kit!
joi b
I have one of those https://soundboks.com/soundboks2/ Not excactly lightweight or small, but for playback purposes while mobile, nothing comes close Made in Denmark, built to stand up to being taken to Roskilde festival
