Apple announcements

Recommended Posts

Hot off the presses: 13" MacBook is now called a MacBook Pro, costs less than previous MacBook, has SD Card slot and Firewire 800.

The 13" MacBook is now called a MacBook Pro. Starts at $1,199. Cheaper than the MacBook it replaces. Ranges from $1,199 to $1,499 in standard configurations.

10:13 am At what point isn't this just a MacBook Pro? It can even expand to the same levels of RAM and HD as the MacBook Pros. The backlit keyboard is now standard in it as well. Also, FireWire 800.

10:12 am Updating the 13" MacBook today as well. Gets the new display, SD card slot and better battery life.

One bad thing about all the updates.  Only the 17" Macbook Pro (the most expensive model) will have a Express card slot now.  the SD ram slot replaces the Express Card slot on all models below the 17"

That means that all those AJA and BlackMagic video and HD capture accessories and recording accessories and Sony SDX card access will not be possible with anything but the new 17" Macbook.

Glad to see the firewire 800 stay on the 13" though.  No replacable batteries on any of the new designs either.

what's the point Jeff, this is not the stock market and we are not traders! :)

No point, actually. Some people like to know about the announcements as they happen, as if they were at the Conference...  but I guess those people probably don't need the link, do they, since they are probably already following it. Oh, well, no harm, no foul.
