chrisnewton
this is a production still from a book about Woody Allen. It's from "Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex..." looks like fun.
boomhead
what kind of mic are you using? That is a Sennheiser 816 in a foam windscreen. The sound mixer Jimmy Sabat has custom metal mic hangers that use large rubber bands and he prefers not to use a zeppelin unless it's REALLY windy. I've had the pleasure of working with him several times and shaving off a few pounds at the end of the pole makes a world of difference. I also found this setup to be better for cueing which is imperative with that mic.

Olle Sjostrom
I don't get why you would want to though... I've tried it once (with hd-25s) and it just made me feel out of control. I tried it cus my arms were tired.
Rasmus Wedin
Exactly - you want to cause your arms are tired. But it never really works out.

Nate C
The green bed, through the light panel trick... Attached Images Wish more sets and locations allowed for this. That said I have always disliked booming from over a flat or the gantry. Could have something to do with the fact I am terrified of heights, or I find my depth perception off. Miles Anderson
" I'm guessing its a Sennheiser 816 ...." it looks longer maybe AKG 451+ck-9 maybe one of the extra long AT 4073's (Letterman mic) the 4071L is the long one. 4073(a) is a short. old school
If I posted this before I apologize. This is circa 85 in NYC. Love that city. Loved booming. Of course I'm the only one in this picture wearing headphones and pointing a mic at an actor shooting full loads out of a shotgun. Somehow I can still hear. Earmuffs
She certainly looks the part! Even with sweatpants and all. Like most people on set for those days in January, the sweats were just an outer layer as it was freezing ass cold until the sun was out for a few hours.
