Michael
Jeff, Not sure how much effort it might take, but I have been reading about an iphone theme for SMF2.0. If it's possible this would be a great way of accessing the group. Completely understandable if you don't want to mess with the forums on this kind of level. You can read more about it at http://www.farfromperfection.com/smf4iphone.html This specific mod appears to be no longer in development but should work with the current version of the group. this is the SMF discussion on the topic where they discuss and have modified versions of the above mod to continue functioning. Jeff Wexler
I have looked into this in the past and I will look into it again. It's the "auto switching" part that has been problematical. If that doesn't work properly it can subject the whole forum to looking like a big iPhone. - Jeff Wexler
Michael
This is mentioned in the thread. I think I saw it on page 25 or so I that helps.
Michael
An app was released in the last few days that works with the group. Its very early in its development cycle at the moment. you can find it at http://www.smfiphoneapp.com/ Michael
Jeff Wexler
An app was released in the last few days that works with the group. Its very early in its development cycle at the moment. you can find it at http://www.smfiphoneapp.com/ Michael Thank you for finding that! I will try it out. It is free and it looks as if it will make it much easier to use this Group with the iPhone. I have found, as most everyone else has too, that displaying and navigating around wide pages with small typeface on the little screen is not a lot of fun. - Jeff Wexler
Michael
Agreed anything to make it easier to navigate on the tiny screen is a good thing. I have already sent some suggestions to the author including the option to display pictures, a blue dot beside threads/categories for new posts, the reply time stamp in the threads section, keeping your log in details and finally the apparent bug that the last post in a thread isn't displayed correctly (on my copy at least) Michael
David
I just tried this App on my iphone, downloaded it twice to make sure the first download not corrupted. Both times when trying to login to jwsound it pops up with "Login Failed. Confirm username and password and correct URL". All of which I have double checked. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?? Dave. Joshua Anderson
Make sure the URL is the one for the login page on jwsound (not just jwsound.net) and omit the "http://" (just start with www) Josh
Jeff Wexler
Make sure the URL is the one for the login page on jwsound (not just jwsound.net) and omit the "http://" (just start with www) Josh I'm not sure what prefix the app wants to see but the real URL for the forum is: http://jwsound.net/SMF (and I believe the "SMF" needs to be uppercase). RPSharman
I used http://jwsound.net/SMF/index.php?action=login It worked in terms of logging in, but it's not very good.
Joshua Anderson
When I was trying it out yesterday the main page of the forum (jwsound.net/SMF) didn't work. The program wanted the log in page (jwsound.net/SMF...something about log in). I couldn't get on with just jwsound and I couldn't get on when the http was included. Joshua Anderson
I think that's what I used, Robert. And I agree it's not too great. What I miss is the list of recent posts. But, it's super frustrating to try to post replies from my iPhone. I end up randomly selected different icons until the cursor shows up in the text box. David
Thanks Joshua it was the www that worked not http! Anyway having tried it, it did not seem to work very well and yes I too like the Recent Post section which does not display in the App. Dave.
