soundtrane
since the topic is locked (i'm puzzled by this), I am posting here... good idea, but not always workable imho... even a bullet wont travel down the slope of a paunch... add sweat to the equation and it gets stickier... -vin
rich
its a nice idea. it could go either way with calling it a bullet. would certainly worry some of the more gullible talent. or made to worry some of the more irritating talent. Michael P Clark
For $40.......hell no! A lure works just as well and is FAR cheaper...
Guest Ken Mantlo
What is this cool sounding thing? Anything that has "bullet" in it's name has got to be good!
AudioChambers
I actually used one this Friday on a shoot and the talent actually loved it. The talent was female and was really happy that an audio guy had something which didn't mean they would have to put their hand under their clothing (regardless of how tactful one is). Sure it's a little expensive, but you only need one. Personally I would recommend it if you can afford it. http://www.facebook.com/atrchamberlain
Marc Wielage
I'm actually thinking of biting the bullet (or at least buying one) just to see if it makes wiring up ladies a little easier. I just had to wire up about 35 women in a row, spread across five days, and I'm all for trying a new approach to see if it's a) faster and more comfortable for the talent. I'll have to remember to warm up the bullet before sliding it down (ulp)... --Marc W.
AudioChambers
Hi Marc, Seriously they are so worth it. I'm also shocked by people complaining about the price...when you're using lavs that are $400+ I see no harm in spending a little extra $40 to make it easier to use. Give it a go and let me know what you think :-)
mikewest
What are we talking about - where are the links? mike
MT Groove
The Lav bulltet is worth every penny! I've been using it for the last year or so and every talent thought it was cool. I bought 2 of them and in my opinion paid for itself.
Steve Joachim
I would buy the Holy Hand Grenade in a minute! However, I could not find it on the site. Guess I'll have to settle for the killer rabbit slippers!
jonkyoh
Bit the bullet. Bought the LB. Use it occasionally. Good buy. Smarts went into this device. BL (bottom line) comes in handy like a dandy when I need it. Jon K. Oh
Jim Rillie
+1 on the Lav Bullet Using it after the old coat hanger/curtain rod methods and the Bullet rocks Hint: It threads to MM400 mic connectors as well as TA3 (my experience) Regards from Jim Rillie, who lives in a world where all actors must be wired plus booming as per usual. and loves what he's doing for some reason. WhyOne
Absolutely, positively a wonderful investment. The new lav rod is also good (a minor step above the shower rod we've been using.)
Marc Wielage
Finally bit the • bullet • and bought one. We'll see how it works on tomorrow's shoot... --Marc W.
Matti
I don't have one but keep it in you pocket to keep it warm, a cold metal object on your skin might be not so nice to some Matti
Tyler Faison
I've had the Lav Bullet for several months and find great times to use it. Not sure I would use it in conjunction with a rod though. I use a fiberglass cable puller (for home theater installers to run speaker wire) and that works just find when I need to go to the ankle. ChrisH
Awesome tool use it every day when wiring talent. The actors on the walking dead expect it now, doesn't work for tight pants on women, I use a Klein fish pole cut in half and tape the connector on the end then push it down through their pants. thebrengun
The Lav Bullet works well and saves time... For talent that chooses to hastily de-mic themselves, despite my polite insistence not to, I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Lav Grenade! I thought that's what vampire clips were for? Marc Wielage
Just got to wire up my first victim with the lav bullet: a 350 lb. guy in an interview. We were both glad I didn't have to shove my hands down his shirt. --Marc W.
Matt McGowin
hey soundguy4film, how are you dealing with all that blood dripping on your lavs? I put a paper napkin over my lav when the sfxmakeup person comes around. I liked the first season of that show. I love zombie shows? I hope the next season is as good. The Lav bullet/rod seems like a very helpful tool. If I can afford to buy a lav bullet or lav rod I would, but Im having a time trying to get a decent kit rental on the basics. mikewest
Am I missing something? Is the bullet a weight for the connector to pass it down clothing? I always apply the transmitter and get women to pass the lav up and out of their clothing Men - well I just do it Advice please mike
studiomprd
yes, and yes
Marc Wielage
I always apply the transmitter and get women to pass the lav up and out of their clothing... Yep, that works. But a TA5 connector is much smaller and less obtrusive. I think the whole point is to wire up the talent faster, with no fumbling, and zero discomfort. I have to say, I used the lav bullet four times on Thursday, and it worked great. Very clever idea, actually. --Marc W.
Malcolm Davies Amps CAS
I emailed the manufacturers a couple of months ago regarding these products but to date I haven't had any reply. They appear to suffer from the worst sort of arrogance where they believe that their time is more important than mine. Malcolm Davies. A.m.p.s. Toy Robot
I'm ordering one now. Just spent the last five days on a shoot wishing I had one. Female talent (x2) had loose clothing of multiple layers the entire time, and this seems like the perfect solution. Can't wait to get it and try it out.
