What makes us be creative?

It's the quality and synchronization of the drawing/cartooning that is as compelling as the message. In our industry I find there is a very high correlation between the rate I get and the degree to which my contribution is (literally) valued. We all have our passions and personal projects, but when it is work for hire, the monetary compensation speaks volumes. We all have different motivations and for some the money is not as important as it is to others. I have found most low-budget jobs to be unrewarding (and not just monetarily) and now avoid them...but there are always exceptions to any rule. It's logistically difficult to donate time to causes I believe in these days, and money is always appreciated. Okay, pulling up to next location. More later

So this is why the very idea of doing my 'art' (short films/poetry) for money makes my sphincter clutch. While I approach doing sound as 'art,' I know deeply that it is -- for me -- a 'craft' for which I never mind being paid well. Were there fiscal incentives for keeping ADR to a minimum, for example, I'm not so sure how well I'd fare. Thanks for sharing this.
