gabi
I have just replaced the HDD of my 744T with a SSD. Didn't take it to the field yet. Is there anybody working with the 744T using SSD instead of the original HDD around here? Any issues? Thanks, Gabi

Darryl Linkow, C.A.S.
Gabi, Did you do it yourself? If so, how difficult was it? Also, seeing how SSD drives are all SATA and the 744T hard drive is PATA/IDE, did you use Sound Devices XL-SATA interface? How difficult and costly was this? gabi
I found some PATA/IDE SSDs on the internet: http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-32GB-SSD-2-5-Inch/sim/B000T9QRKE/2/ref=pd_cp_e_sexpl It is not so hard to replace them. Darryl Linkow, C.A.S.
Thanks. I did not realize that they made PATA SSD drives. But I must say that they are quite expensive. Probably would be cheaper to buy the Sound Devices interface and go with SATA SSD drive. Which drive did you buy and how much was it? gpiegari
Newer 744t uses a SATA drive. I replaced my older 744t with a PATA SSD nearly a year ago. Very easy and no issues at all. Glen
RPSharman
Has anyone noticed a significant difference in power consumption with the SSD? I have the 788T-SSD, which is power hungry already. I would consider switching my 744T for bag work if it would make a significant difference. I just put a larger HD in it for the sake of capacity. It was an easy process. Robert
