John S.
Hi Guys, I'm doing a doc-style commercial this weekend where I will be mixing from the back seat, putting a lav on the driver. I can also slip a boom in from below, around the area where the stick shift would be. Since we are moving between different vehicles quickly I don't really have the option of planting another lav or boundary mic. So which mic would you use on the boom, Schoeps MK41? Senn 50? Something else? Thanks, John
BWilson
When I have been in these situations, I use my Schoeps MK41, and normally position it on the rearview mirror. But that is if the camera is in the passenger seat, and the actor(?) is talking to the camera and also watching the road ahead. I have put it below but be sure to check for anything rattling and if it is a stick shift it may get in the road when changing gears. studiomprd
" Schoeps MK41? Senn 50? Something else? " yes, yes, and yes... lots of options. two words: trial and error also: it takes years of experience to get years of experience.
