Philip Perkins
Couldn't resist--the discussion of "cart-names" came up in the "Nicole Kidman Insert Car Injury" thread, so I thought I'd give it its own home. My cart's name: "The Ship Of Love", or, more intimately: the "Carte d'Amore". Philip Perkins
Bartek
Thats a god one! old school
I'm not as wack as I thought. It is good to see others are out there. "The Money Maker", "Carte d'Amore", and my favorite, "The Widowmaker" are all fine names and may they live and serve us a long time. Simon Paine
A few crew members started calling my cart the "Heineken Cooler", due to it's distinct green color. I like to call it the "Tardis", cause there is way more going on inside, then would appear from the outside.

t.elder
My old and beat-up PSC cart was named "Shaniqua" a few years ago by my intern on one of my first features, and the name has stuck. My boom operator likes to tell her that she's looking foxy. Tim
Brian Milliken
My good friend and Boom-Op Bradley Kendrick refers to his Panamic Maxi Boom as "The Staff of Money", the term always brings a smile on set when he asks our 3rd to pass the "Staff of Money" Regards Brian

RPSharman
"The Coffin" - given to Kim Ornitz' gigantic blue follow cart. I think this isn't just because of size and weight, but the fact that the chance of ending up in a coffin increases if you are unfortunate enough to have to take it off the truck. It must be said that Kim carries almost everything you could possibly need, and lots of it, on his jobs, and it's nice to know it's there if you need it. As for my cart... I don't have a name yet, but I'm gonna start giving it some serious thought!
JamieSound
I had a plaque made that's on my cart. It says "Key Light Here". I like Art Rochester's new cart name "Eleanor Rig-B".
Chris Howland CAS
I just boomed on a feature for Peter Meiselmann and his cart was referred to as "The Death Star" because of all the cool lighting on his rig. When I interned for Mark Ulano, before the days of his super fancy Chinhda Cart, I referred to his cart as "The Bitch". It was around 300 LBS and I had a real hard time the first time I pushed it up the ramp of the trailer only to find out later that 2 of the tires were low. After we fixed that problem it was a breeze. BTW, His new cart is really sexy (Well, as sexy as a sound cart can get.) Cheers
taylormadeaudio
I started calling my cart the Black Pearl because of the flag, but it's also been referred to as the Millennium Falcon... I think 'cause it's so ugly -- but it can make the Kestle Run in under 12 parsecs. God, I'm a dork!

Philip Perkins PS: Looks like Metacorder on the small moni--w/ a Mac Mini? Or is it a 2nd moni for the laptop?
taylormadeaudio
hey Phillip, Yeah, it's a Lilliput touchscreen for the Mini (yes, running Metacorder)... Richard Lightstone recommended the Lilliput -- he had one on his cart and I just thought it was the perfect size -- just big enough to see everything... and aside from having to calibrate it every now and then, it's been the most effective interface for the Metacorder I've used. I'm pretty proud of the 208 (see my new profile image) : )... it's so amazingly transparent. I still pinch myself once in a while just to make sure I'm really sitting behind it. I could probably get you a pirate flag (but you're on your own as far as the 208 goes) : ) Merry Christmas my friend! -tom
