Jeff W. What 80/20 profile did you use for your current cart? Which corners, and did you have the pieces cut to length by the factory?

David B.

If you are referring to the current Follow Cart, I used profiles (aluminum extrusions) from the 80/20 HT Series. This is square tubing, 1.5" x 1.5" and comes either pre-drilled with a series of holes for easy construction, or without holes for a cleaner look. I used the square tubing without holes so I had to drill everything myself. As for the cuts, I had the factory make the major cuts to the lengths I specified and then I also got some random pieces that had to be custom cut, by me, for various parts of the cart. The joining pieces for the construction are all inserts provided by 80/20 to work with the HT Series. They fit inside each tube and are drilled and tapped (5/16 x 18 thread) to expedite joining the various bits. One of the other things that upped the cost of construction is I used all stainless steel hardware (bolts, nylock nuts, washers, etc.) and that hardware is not cheap. The first carts I ever built ended up with quite a lot of corrosion on the bolts which I really did not like seeing. I know there are less expensive plated hardware but I have been more comfortable with the use of top of the line stainless hardware.

Thank you for the reply, but wasn't your main equipment cart made from 80/20 profiles?

I am just completing a new vertical cart and want to try the next one with 80/20.

Thank you again if you time answer this question again.

Respectfully David B
