Light year for gear purchases here. Just got my own Comteks. And a craftsman tool cart to roll my sound gear around on. Thinking about the Nomad next year. And a new vehicle within 2 years.

Non-gear purchases would be my Specialized road bike, all the running shoes and swim gear in order to do compete in a triathlon. I'm referring to it as my newly established "employee wellness program"! Getting in shape has been probably the best thing I've done in the last 10 years. I've always been skinny, but cardio was woefully lacking.

788t SSD with CL8. I've really grown to love this machine. Hooray!

Would really love to start looking at a good vehicle, but there's so much more kit yet to get. Back in the UK, I bought a VW T4 Kombi van. 2.5TDI Diesel engine, seated 6 and kept my entire sound package secure in the rear. I even used it to work out of on those ever so frequent, rainy days in Wales. Such a shame these are not available in the US. The ford transit, however, is a fantastic alternative, even better if it comes with a diesel engine.

No gear purchases this year but I spent a good deal of money in my travels and that was worth every penny. Was in London during the royal wedding, NYC during 9/11 and was in Italy for over 3 weeks in July - had a hell of a year with no gear purchases. My mind has been going around in circles on what to buy for gear. I can never freaking decide.

BTW been drooling over the Transit Connect as well. My one day jobs involves way too much prep and its a bit of a burden. Another local soundie just got one.

Laid off the big purchases this year, but these two items made me smile:

Finally, a set chair I like. Light weight and good geometry.

This puppy rocks. The Foxl v2.2 Bluetooth speaker is my new favorite toy. As well as being a useful tool on the set, I also got the mounting rig for my cruiser bike - no more dangerous earbud wearing while riding.

I like that chair. Is the seat height roughly that of a tall director's chair or what?

By far this speaker rig has been my best purchase;

http://www.amazon.com/Ion-Audio-Tailgater-Portable-System/dp/B0026JKO7M

Got it at Costco for $105.

Battery powered speaker with ipod/iphone dock, 2-1/4" inputs, RCA's, AM FM Radio, a highly directional handmic with a switch on it for karaokemaking.

Loud enough for almost all indoor coverage.

It's small and runs a long time (6hrs or so) on the battery.

I've been using the hangdmic on voice of god applications as it's a POS throwing that sounds piercing and is highly directional-perfect for your favorite AD.

Perfect for that choreographer who needs the boombox etc.

This has paid for itself at least 15 times over in the last 6 months.

Best $ spent in a long time.
