Nicole Hankerson
Damn that's crazy. Wonder what they used for sound. Nicole

Olle Sjostrom
I remember some years ago a swedish film maker made a documentary which was entirely filmed on a "regular" cell phone. I heard it was good... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1283281/ Hehe, only 5.4 on the IMDB scale.. Guess people couldnt stand the "graphics"
mikefilosa
It looks a little DV'ey on my laptop, in some places, but the camera stability is very good. My guess is that camera is right up there and in the face on those closeups - hey, no fan noise .... As scary as this is, I'll bet there will be a good bit of PR from the producer and director, in our favor, regarding the absolute need for quality production sound to make the picture "look better" ! AND post.... what better qualifier than Skywalker ? Sounds pretty good to me on my computer - I'll try to catch it in it's entirety someday.... Keenan925
Yes, that was a interesting project, very small mellow crew, producers wanted to keep it on the VERY low down. And the best thing was that the main actress who plays Olive had very few speaking lines. Keenan

Simon Paine
I guess it must have been hard to see the frame on the phones screen. Would explain why they missed the foot of a light stand in the shot at 35 seconds in. lol.
Keenan925
Nice Simon, it was really hard getting a frame reference for my boom because the screen was so small. This movie made with new technology but it felt like an old school film set because we were rolling double system and everyone had to trust that it was in focus. ccsnd
can't wait for the new waves of emails I am sure to get from people shooting their projects on their phones. If DSLR shoots were 0 to almost zero pay, do these new phone jobs mean I will have to pay them to work on the production?
Marc Wielage
I mentioned this to somebody today, and he retorted, "great -- a dumb movie, shot on a smart phone."

If DSLR shoots were 0 to almost zero pay, do these new phone jobs mean I will have to pay them to work on the production? no now youll get a rate as a mixer a boom op and a Playback operator at the same time and youll be expected to score the show live as they shoot all by yourself. And the producers are depending on you to make the film good because for some reason the image doesn't look good compared to prime lenses and 35mm film. Marc Wielage
I had a director complain a few months ago on a post job, "gee, is there any way you can make the 'B' Cam look as good as the 'A' Cam?" I answered (trying not to be sarcastic), "you mean, can I make the Canon 7D look as good as the Red? No, but I can degrade the Red and make it look almost as bad as the Canon, which cost $28,000 less." He thought for a minute and said, "can you meet them somewhere in the middle?" And that's what we wound up doing. Far too many reality shows and documentaries are being done like that these days. Drives editors and post people crazy. Years ago, it wasn't easy even when all the cameras were exactly the same and looked good!
