Charlie Parra
Hi everyone, I trust that you all had a great Holiday Season and wish you all the best in 2012. Here is another freeTC app for the iPhone\iPad to add to your arsenal. http://itunes.apple....60306?mt=8&ls=1 The Denecke TimeCode ToolBox app is designed to Read & Generate LTC time code using your mobile iDevice (running iOS 5.x or higher). The time code reader features a level meter and wave form analyzer (helpful for trouble shooting cables, etc). The incoming time code frame rate is flagged as well. The Time code generator is capable of generating all of the standard frame rates and defaults to the current time of day. User bits default to the current date. The generator can also be set to user select values. Due to the low stability of the iDevice's time base (crystal), this app is not recommended for use as a Master Clock and should only be used to "jump start" devices such as a Denecke Dcode Sync Box or Slate. Enjoy! Best Regards, Charlie

John Blankenship
So, with it being free, do you make it up on volume? <g>
Mark LeBlanc
Just tested it. After you set the software to generate timecode (23.976) at a start time of whatever (01:00:00:00) for a test. Connect up the slate and turn it on. It shows a Timecode error, but after the message clears, the timecode is correct. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Slate set to 23.976 as is the software. Will try and post a video of what's happening shortly..
Mark LeBlanc
OK, sorry for the quality, but you will get the idea. Set the timecode start time in software, turn on slate, see the error, but looks to be in sync. Two things. 1. Can you add a close button somewhere on the timecode input window. In landscape mode the TC button is almost covered and not intuitive how to close the window 2. Any way to add the blinking light like on the slate. If for no other reason than it would look like the slate! Is the app accurate enough to set a start time and walk around to Sync Boxes on cameras and timecode slate to rejam after lunch ?? Derek H
I know it's extra work for a fee app but there are many of us using Android devices who would love to use this app as well. Currently there is no timecode app for Android. Hope Denecke considers it! Thanks for providing such a valuable tool for free!

Hi Mark, Thanks for the feedback. The app is still a work in progress so we appreciate your suggestions. The error message on the slate is due to the jitter on the TC signal out of the ipad. This is due to the very limited stability of the iDevices crystal. In this case ignore the error. We are working on a future software update for the TS-3 and TS-C to increase the sample time and hopfully avoid the error message. Yes, you can use the app to jumpstart your devices Thanks again! Marc Wielage
Great job, Charlie! Love the additional colors on the display. You should charge money for this! This is at least worth a coupla bucks! You should also put a Denecke logo on there somewhere.
RadoStefanov
Second that. I would pay for a Windows phone or Android App. Great job, Charlie! Love the additional colors on the display. studiomprd
Android and the slate image needs to include the Denecke trademark, an image of Father Time!
Boomboom
... a "bloop" would be nice too... maybe the whole screen inverting colors for a second or something like that. We have numbers, can jumpstart our devices but can't slate :-) Well, go go Sen' : "ya can't please everyone on jwsound"...

PTA
It would be great if you could jam this app, unplug it from the source and have it be somewhat accurate. At least for a "close" remote slate. (null)

At least for a "close" remote slate. (null) That would be up to the timing crystal in the phone, which I doubt is very accurate. Not much you can do on a software level if the hardware doesn't fit the purpose. Now, if you strapped a TC box to the back, that's another story. Boomboom
In fact, Denecke should launch a Digital TC box with a phone application included...
soundslikejustin
In fact, Denecke should launch a Digital TC box with a phone application included... What do you mean by this? If you fed an ordinary TC box intro the App (padded down to mic level) you would accomplish the same thing. I would love to see integration between the TC app posted above and the scene/take/userbits metadata incorporated into Zaxnet. There was a time when this was going to be integrated into Denecke slates, but I think that got canned/at least put on hold.
