    Schoeps mini CMIT

I did... confused though, why one would buy a mini + a piano. You either want it light and small or you want the big stuff that will be usable with maybe one Bft step more. But to answer myself again, the Mini + Piano may be a bit more affordable than a 5U + Piano.

    Adding waterproof pot to system

Sorry to be cryptic. I am adding a volume control to Demerbox-- which i am so glad i made the investment! love it. . The aux input is internal - which is brilliant. i put a lectro Ria inside the box and i have a wireless waterproof speaker system which i am using for a god mic on a marine doc i am doing . Lots of boat to boat stuff. I would like to add a external volume control to the Demerbox ( aux input only) so that listeners can control the volumes of the god mic- no cart, god mic not run thru panel of any kind... ... from our hero boat.... I totally 100% get why there is not volume control on the outside of the box-- i know we have all had the annoyance of somebody reaching for a volume control on a PB speaker that is controlled back at the cart... So for 99% of my jobs, i like that option being taken away-- I'll remove the control when the project is finished. Jay Rose--- mono is fine. Only the pot needs water proofing. I'll start with 20k audio taper. thx again, j

Yes, there is a reason why Jeff closed the politics section. It unvariably turned ugly very quickly. Although in this case it got particularly ugly particularly quickly. And there is definetely a lot of blame to go around. Both the EU and the US decided to behave spectacularly dumb. Both now in the „trade war“ and before to even get us to this position.

You loose 17g of weight by choosing a Mini in a Piano over a regular 5U. Thats the only difference I'd see. Or do you suggest that the mini's size allows a more favourable position inside a Piano?

    Schoeps mini CMIT

possibly, but then again if one were to put the Mini in a full size Piano that might be even better.

The mini has a fixed 4th order low-cut filter at 70 Hz that is present, regardless if you need or want them. If you want to be able to turn it off, e.g. when you want to record low freq stuff or want to match it to a CCM8 in an M/S setup, you want the switching feature of the 5U. Apart from that, as a rule of thumb bigger windscreens are less susceptible to wind than smaller ones. Not sure if you are referring to me. I have reported that it is vulnerable to swishing noise when used with the Rycote INV-Lite 21 indoor mount. I don't think the Mini vs the 5U are different regarding swishing noise in general. However, as stated above the Piano has probably a more windshielding effect than the Pianissimo.
  11. Here is a screenshot I got from post. More colorful than my asci art, I guess. I've talked to post again, they somehow do not feel comfortable sending project files to "some guy on the internet" or don't have the time to create one. I've asked them for some wav where the issue occures and some where it does not, so I could compare the metadata. Still waiting, but my engagement ends on monday, so it is somehow "case closed" for me. I've created this thread, in the hope someone had run into the issue before. Anyway, thanks for your help so far.

how to solve this, lavalier noises.

Depends what mike you use! Also what type of work you do! After decades of drama and documentaries I have learned what to use and quickly! mike

I got a personal response to the above comment, didn't think people with that kind of intelligence are able to read this forum...

    Schoeps mini CMIT

Some reports have suggested it is noticeably more vulnerable to swishing noise using a foam windshield (turbulence, air flow?) than a 5U, and a Rycote Baseball or such like may be necessary, thus reducing some of the weight reduction advantage?

When did Trump ever want to lower tariffs? He was the one who killed TTIP. This would have been a US-EU free-trade agreement that wasn’t yet a done deal. He still could’ve changed it if he thought it was a „bad deal“. And it certainly wasn’t a great deal, but at least everyone agreed on lower tariffs

So the pursuit of a lower tariffed, globalised free-market economy is very potentially going to lead to a planet with high tariffs, 6-10% less global trade and a move away from free-market economics? It seems somewhat ironic, don't you think? I find the really interesting aspect of all of this the fact that the USA and China are heading in completely opposite directions. While the USA is threatening higher tariffs, China is gearing up to invest a trillion dollars on a 21st century Silk Road trade infrastructure network through 70 odd Asian, Middle-Eastern and European countries. Who knows where it will all lead... the result of this may well be a new world order.
  19. Out of curiosity, is Lectrosonics considering anything in the 1790-1800 MHz range? Australia has reshuffled and it looks like it is now used exclusively for wireless audio. Sennheiser has started making and selling products in the range, for example.

So... I’m buying the Schoeps mini CMIT with the Cinela Pianissimo. My question is: is there any reason to buy the CMIT 5U instead? Filters are not needed with the cinela, the reach is the same, the mini is lighter, the cinela smaller... Same sound quality... Just checking with you guys your experience. thanks!

Sound Devices MixPre-3 vs Zoom F4

I have done tests with the MixPre where I pulled out the power supply in the middle of recording a file. The file survived just fine. -Mike
  22. thanks, it's the red way to release cameras when not everything is working (like the audio board), good to see Panavision is keeping up that fine tradition.

    DIY sma antenna

Roubi, I have made antennas from nitinol nickel-titanium wire, but decided to use small diameter multi-strand cable instead. I understand that you are making antennas for receivers, not transmitters at this point. When I made nickel-titanium antennas, I would file a series of small notches in the terminal end of the wire. The notches would be covered by the SMA pin after soldering, but would add a mechanical bound inside the soldered connection. The colored caps are sold at B&H in New York, made by Lectrosonics I think.

    DIY sma antenna

Merci beaucoup Larry, I'll sleep better not feeling the urgent need to remake all of them... Impressive Mark, I haven't been as far as you! I am using the antennas only on receivers (I am using UWP-D11 modified to SMA) but also quickly tried them with Lectro SRB (even at the wrong length, they work very well). What wire are you using ? And where do you find those small caps ? Thanks Roubi (Grégoire de Courtivron)
