Does anyone have a copy of software version 7.46 they could email me. I have tried going to the Zaxcom site but since we changed to the new user group they no longer post anything other than the newest version. Thanks.

After a degree in studio audio and toiling through the PA and AC ranks, I finally landed my first A2/Jr. Mixer gig on a reality show in a couple weeks and need to buy my first harness! I've done a lot of research and am down to the: Petrol PS605 And one of four Versa-Flex's! I am a guy that gets hot easily and the newer breathable mesh Versa-Flex sounds ideal but I can't find much feedback on whether the shoulder support and comfort is good enough on this lighter-duty harness compared to their heavier duty model. Also, do most of you go with "wider is better" approach, aka 4" over 2.5" straps? Or is that seen as over-kill? Thanks so much for any advice…

I've been noticing that my 788 has started sounding a little distorted when it's only hitting its peaks at around -14 dbFS (around first yellow LED)... I thought to change the meter scale and it didn't seem to alter anything. Is it just for reference or does it actually change what the VU reads? Also opinions on distortion thng would be great too lol. I checked all my radio inputs and they're fine as well...

Thought you all will find this research interesting. First, an article and some explanatory audio samples from the UCSF press office: How Selective Hearing Works In the Brain UCSF Research Explains the "Cocktail Party Effect"—Ability to Tune in a Single Voice in a Crowded Room By Jason Bardi on April 18, 2012 The longstanding mystery of how selective hearing works — how people can tune in to a single speaker while tuning out their crowded, noisy environs — is solved this week in the journal Nature by two scientists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Seems that Rode has come up with a new microphone for their NTG series. Comparisons are quite obvious It's 4mm longer and 40gr lighter than the MKH 816. The Mic still doesn't appear on Rode website, but seems that is for sale on some online stores http://www.hhb.co.uk/news.php?nid=64

Hello everyone. I rented a 744t for a project coming up, and after going through all settings today decided to also check connectivity for media management during the project. I plugged the firewire cable into MacBook Pro while both 744t and MBP were OFF, since SD recommends never 'hot-swapping' firewire devices. Attempt standard procedure to mount drive via menu and no success. Try again using shortcut (hold down 'Stop' and 'HDD' buttons on face of unit). No success again. Powered down both units and tried again, to no avail. Powered down both again, used different cable, and different MBP (media server at the house) and still no luck mounting. Anyone…

My Venue seems to "square out" a lot earlier than my 411's, even though the transmitters leds are not hitting the red. Anyone else experience this?

Exhausted but knocked out by the fantastic response from everyone today at the TCB stand. Looking forward to "sound mixer day" tomorrow, and for anyone who we miss at the stand - we'll see you at the party tomorrow night! The TimeCode Buddy Team

I was eating at a restaurant in Berkeley yesterday at a slow time of day, and a video crew was eating at a table nearby. It looked like they had been shooting there all day and were taking a break. Their cameras were standing by, and I looked at them at one point but couldn't quite figure out their MO. EX3, Pix 240, ext battery, got all that, but some kind of hop that I thought at first was an ERX but seemed too big, and with much too long an antenna. The box was 3 x 4 1/2 or so, white with black letters (that didn't say Zaxcom), and had a rubber duck antenna about 8 inches long. Both cams had them. I didn't get a chance to talk to the crew--the Mrs. was in a hurry.…

As many people know, a quality spectrum analyzer can run you into the thousands of dollars. So, the terms "inexpensive" and "spectrum analyzer" don't naturally occur in the same sentence. Still, it would be nice to know what RF activity is in a particular band. Well, that price-performance equation is no longer true. I just took delivery of what has to be one of the neatest cheap toys you'll find for our profession and obsession. Here is the link: http://www.seeedstud....html?cPath=174 Here's a link to manuals, software, etc.: http://micro.arocholl.com/ It's so darn cheap, does the unit work? The short answer is: YES. For that…

Warning, possible newb content: My first post here! I am in the market for some headphones. I am just getting into doing some boom work. I am primarily considering the Ultrasone Pro550s. These are excellent sounding and very comfortable. They come with extras and a case. I'll definitely go with these over something like the 7506's. My question is whether it would be beneficial to have open-back phones so I can hear the director etc. more easily or if its best to isolate my ears and focus on what the mic is hearing? If closed is the concensus then does anyone use high quality in-ears to avoid the sweat of a hot shoot?

I'm curious as to what types of cases people are using to store their entire sound bags in once they are already setup. I'm not asking about sound bags, lots of threads about those already. In my opinion, it's much easier to simply carry the entire bag rig pre-setup in a case and ready to roll at any moment, with only some battery changes, and possibly minor alterations to the kit based on the project requirements once you pull the rig out of its case. I'm about to invest in a case for my new PS614 bag, and I'm looking for input on how other mixers store their bags ready to go, and if there are any here who choose to build the rig each day, and if so why? M…

I know this has been mentioned once before (specifically re: block 21), but I was wondering if anyone has had any luck creating an effective shield, or barrier to reduce the bleed from the Nomad. I use all SRa Rx in my bag, 2 in a Quad Pack, one with a sled and they get a pretty good blast from the Nomad on all blocks (470, 20, 26). I doubt receivers with a more robust front end have as much problem, but I have to deal with it. Anybody experimenting?

on my first shoot since getting my nomad back from zaxcom, software is upgraded to 2.95. i have track 1 set in to post fade (x) in the bus routing page on all analog inputs, and each input set to one fader (a) i have nothing showing up on my mix track, i can't figure out what i'm missing. the audio does show up on my mix track if i switch the routing to prefade, but i get nothing using post fade. any suggestions would be appreciated as i'm on set

So I am thinking again about the QRX and a pair of LT tranceivers. In theory, the QRX will be powered from the cart, and receive antenna distribution from the WB Venue, allowing me to keep current antenna setup. I would buy two of the little LT transceivers. Perhaps the QRX can get TC from my SD recorder and broadcast it to LT trancievers via IFB option in the QRX? That way I can utilize record function. What do you think (or know)? And I'm posting here, Senator, because I want to hear from Larry and Glenn and perhaps educate the group with their responses. Robert

Ive been on an under armour shoot all week and my wireless had been fine up until the last day where my radios, no matter what frequency they were on, output this weird white noise. It wasn't steady but modulating. Came in through my TX, but didn't show up on my RX AF levels, but heard it in headphones... Any ideas as to what it may be? I checked every frequency I both A and B bandwidths and tested on COS-11's, Sonotrims and ME-2's...

Stumbled upon this with some creative Googling. I like how 24bit seemed futuristic and the pre-record buffer was an amazing killer feature. Also what the hell is "the new Sony dubbing format, specifically for use with the new 20-bit Sony digital dubber?" http://www.amps.net/...e23/23_deva.htm I copied the text below: Twickenham Studios, Sunday 21st September saw an audience of over 50 for a presentation by Glen Sanders of Zaxcom, of his company's portable 4-channel digital audio hard disk recorder. Because this was considered an important event, an invitation was extended to the IBS and BKSTS membership to attend, and it was good to see some IBS members …

With just a few days until NAB show all seems to be quiet on the hardware front. Usually manufacturers release some press releases on new Equipment announcements to drive traffic to their booths, but this year seems unusually quiet. Anybody heard any new must see new equipment announcements that will be shown at NAB?

Hi, I was recently checking out the 8000 series modular sennheiser mics online. The product descriptions all say that the mic is only 75mm with the included xlr module attached, yet I can't find any pictures of the XLR module, or one of these mics on a pole. Does anyone have any pictures of one of these mics built on the end of a pole with windscreen and everything on it? I'm curious how big it is and can't seem to find anything. Thanks, joe

Just curious, can I combine two transmitter antenna together using a simple T adapter, both transmitter being on the same block. I was thinking of taking two SMV taping them together and combining the antenna together. They would be used as a hop Tx for my bag. Any comments?

I am using all MM400 TX now and have polled a number of people off group and want more feedback, I have found that RED Band Countryman B6 is the best choice for all situations with MM400 With the Sanken cos-11 I have found that I tend to reach for regular type about 60% of the time and RED Dot rest of the time. I don't like the noise floor of mm400 if I have to turn in up past 11 ( 40%) with a softer spoken person on a RED Dot What are most of you using with MM400?
