Maybe a dumb question, but... I try to track down some weird behavior on my equipment: Can a radio interference (of unknown source) can completely silence a transmitter/receiver system during a few seconds ? Sound is off, then on, then off, etc... randomly. On several system, on different blocks, not the same day, not the same location, but symptoms are similar. Intermittent. No way to reproduce it back home. I even got to the point where I hook up everything with different sound source for each transmitter (to know the one is wrong) and record the output on a computer during 8 hours. Nada. I hope the collective brain will lighten me. Thanks. …

I'm looking to upgrade my system. I've had a lot of cross suggestions about these two rigs, but I wanted to just start a new topic about it to see what feedback I get from people.

Any advice here? Im going to be purchasing New professional wireless and always had the idea of buying lectrosonics. Now with he recording capabilities of the zaxcomm xmitters and zaxnet im a little confused and am not sure what to do. Im a sound devices guy, currently own a 744t and am planning to upgrade to 788t. If I go with zaxcomm wireless i would definitely get a nomad 8 instead of gettin the 788. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi, folks. I bought a K-tec boompole K152CCR from B&H yesterday and simply tested it with my Rode NTG-3. I've heard a lot K152CCR is one of the best boompoles.. but I hear too much noise from it. I came back home with the pole and first I stretched the pole and shook it a little bit. I could hear a lot of slapping noise from inside. I thought "Oh, this must be the internal cable. but maybe this is normal." Because I haven't had a coiled pole before. Then I plugged my mic and mixer, I could still hear a lot of noise through my headphone. Even I didn't move so quick or fast, I could hear all the cable slapping sound and handling noise. Also I felt carbon fiber boom…

HI all I'm contemplating the QIFB upgrade to my QRX100/TRX900 camera link, and I'm somewhat confused about a few of the functions and the required cables etc... To get the return audio into the QRX100 at the camera end, is that using the 5P XLR audio out (on ENG/EFP cameras) or the 3.5mm mini-jack to the audio input on the QRX? Is the return signal going to be a mono mix or can I select Ch 1 and/or Ch 2 separately? Can the QRX100 send back to the TRZ900 TC and return audio at the same time, or must I choose one or the other? At the TRX900 end, if I plug my cans into the audio/TC connector I can only get a mono mix of what my 788T is sending to the TRX…

I have two Zaxcom QRX100Q receivers in block 21. When doing a scan they are returning very different results. In the photo the receiver on top is running software version 1.09 and the other receiver is on version 2.0. The two receivers seem to return similar clear and not clear frequencies but the top receiver has much less strength of the various frequencies it is picking up whereas the bottom receiver picks up the same frequencies but with a stronger presence of those signals. I've swapped around the whip antennas in about every configuration possible, swapped power cables, and audio cables. I also hooked them up to the new PSC RF SMA splitter and to just th…

The topic says it all, really. Looking for a dealer with a webstore or a plain list of stuff on sale. Looking to hopefully buy lots of stuff from the same place, hush pads/sleeves, Rode vampire clips etc, without the hassle of e-mailing several distributors about several items. Thanks!

I'm looking to get some new lav mics for my G3's. I can't afford the lectro's as of yet, so I'm using my G3's for every job that I pick up, including features and ENG stuff. I don't have a crazy budget, but I was looking at the countryman B3's. Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm using another mixers 744t for a few days and the date and time needs to be reset each time I start it up. I imagine there is an internal battery that needs changing but wanted to run it by you folks here. I tried calling SD, but they're closed on the weekend. Is there any issues aside from the inconvenience of resetting the date/time daily I should be aware of? Is it an easy fix to change this battery(if that is indeed the issue)?

Just an FYI for anyone that has lost the screw-in 1/8inch to 1/4 inch adapter supplied with the headphone only to find it not lised on any Sony website (that I could find) can use these $4 adapters made for KRK headphones that screw in to an MDR7506 and work just fine. I just got a CL-1 for my 744t. I also picked up a tiny usb keyboard. I have this old ps/2 to USB adapter from I don't know where, and thought it would work. It doesn't. I called SD and they said the first thing to try is a different adapter. I'm a little surprised the one I have doesn't work, but then I've never used it for anything before. I've tried the keyboard plugged into my laptop, and it works. Also, the power draw is stated on the bottom side of the keyboard, and it's pretty low. The keyboard isn't back lit or anything like that. Can anyone recommend a particular model adapter they've found to work? google searches lead me to possibly this: http:/…

Hi all, I wanted to know from other QRX100 owners if they have experience similar problems with their units as I have. I am currently using the unit in an ENG bag with a 442 (I do not trust the unit on a camera YET) power through a Remote Audio BDS system. Setting are single mode, LED lights on the side are off, power save mode is on, AES is off, normal mode, IFB off, no option board, and current firmware is 0.93. What has happened is the unit would be fine for a few hours; maybe 2 or 3 then the screen would lock up on the boot-up screen with the LED's lit up green. No audio would pass through. Solution would be to recycle the power. This has only happened onc…

Greetings all! I have been asked to do a possible short notice job in Paris, France. Does anyone have any ideas whether my Ch.38 radio mics (606-614mhz) will encounter any known rf issues. All my brief research so far says that open frequencies are available from 430-801mhz. Any one have any real-world experience? I'm shooting constantly until we leave so figured this was the best place for a swift answer... We are, after all, the master manipulators of dark magic (ie, radio mics) Best and thanks in advance, Simon

so after a few days of having that damn thing stuck in my ear(stopped using it around day 3 or 4) i've come to realize that there's gota be a better way(some would argue not even using it, but i like having the communication). so i thought about running the cable into my nomad so i can hear it through my headphones, not recording it of course. but after speaking with josh duncan this evening he mentioned that someone on here made custom cables for walkies. show yourself custom walking cable making person! i want to give you dollars for a cable!

I have a slate mic on my mixer.. but a few weeks ago I got a comment from the editor about the, shall we say, 'harshness' of my voice going on the tracks.. So, it got me thinking.. I could just rig up another 'better' slate mic up top of my cart and plug that into another channel on my mixer. So, a small wired lav mic? Recommendations? Cheap? Thanks -Richard
