Cameo II users, can you answer a couple questions for me? Can you make an accurate measurement of the mixer dimensions? Width, depth (w/out slope) and height at the rear w knobs? (anything online seems to indicate height w/o knobs and also seems very "rounded off" not completely accurate as far as I can guess) Are the rubber feet removable? Is there a heat sink/vent on the bottom? Also, can one take the internal battery out of the unit and still run it? And lastly, can the handle on the side of the unit be removed easily? Thanks! -Greg-

I've got a film coming up thats going to be shot in a rather large mansion. Since it's NOT a studio, and it's pretty large, I'm thinking of borrowing, renting, or creating a bell and light system. Has anyone here built their own bell and lights? It shouldn't be difficult to roll your own. I don't remember if I've seen discussions on this though. Thanks -Richard

Hi, I know this topic has been beaten up on previous posts, but nowhere on this board is any mention of the Sony 680S (maybe because it's a relatively new model). Every once and awhile I get the itch to add an MS mic to my kit for the documentary stuff but never so eager to drop $2k+ for the css5, neumann, or dual mic setups. These two, the Audio Technica BP4029 and the Sony ECM 680S, have near identical feature sets and are priced to be competitive to each other. Hoping someone here has used one or both of these models enough to have developed some feedback regarding their usefulness for sub-$1000 stereo recording. Differences in specs I have noticed: - Sony …

Last month I bought the shure se535 in ears, strictly to listen and enjoy music in other places than the studio. Today I was preparing and testing my setup for the next gig and decided to use the in ears instead of my beyerdynamic dt48 and sennheiser hd25 and I was really blown away about the quality and that It provides up to 37 db of isolation!! Does anyone tested these in ears for production sound? I mainly do bag work and docu stuff. I felt that these in ears really let me listen to where I point my microphone even more than headphones. It was a short comparisation but I was impressed. What do you think about (extreme quality) in ears for production sound?

http://www.cedaraudio.com/products/dns/dns_1500.html I've heard this little "wonder box" work some incredible magic in post studios. Wondering if anyone ever experimented with using it on Location ? Could be a real saviour in some situations. I'd probably use it in the mix, but still record a clean ISO of the channels.

A good buddy of mine suggested to buy the SD 552... Seems like a solid recommendation... Anyone have any other recommendations for mixers or mixer/recorder combos in the $2000 -3500 price range? Thanks

This is a question which I should pose on the new Zaxcom Forum but there seems to so little activity there so far (and no reply to my post there). So, here goes: I have a Zaxcom RX4900 (4 receivers and a multicoupler) with a pair of shark fin antennas connected to the RF IN BNCs. I also have an older Zaxcom Quad Box (4 receivers and a multicoupler). To use the same pair of antennas, can I connect the RF OUT BNCs on the RX4900 to the RF IN BNCs on the Quad Box? Does that work to allow me to use the same antennas?

Hello Friends, Has anyone been using this newish Tx from Comtek? It looks like an appealing addition to the bag-cart hybrid set-up I've been using. The size is reasonable and it's a great price for the features. But how to orient it in a bag, and will it play nicely with other gear in close proximity? Any experiences or witty remarks? Thanks, Travis Breitenbach

Hello all, This is my first post and I have been researching online to figure this out and have not been able to get a hold of various sound mixers I know to talk about it with them either, so I'm coming to you fine folks. I'm doing my first Sound-only gig for a student film starting tomorrow. I own a SD 442 mixer and they have rented a SD 744T recorder. However, they were not able to get a breakaway cable I mentioned to get (I said to get a dual-XLR male one end female on the other). I thought this is what I should be using, and please tell me if I'm wrong and there is a better, more efficient, or more accurate way to run the mixer to recorder. I'm new at thi…

Hi folks, After a year of being wishy-washy, I finally swooned for Nissan's newest and most bizarre US offering, a 2012 Nissan NV 250 HD V6 High Roof van. It's the only one in Austin I think, as they don't yet deal them in town. Mine was used, the original owner put 2k miles on it and decided he couldn't afford it. I ended up getting a pretty good deal. I was just going to get a used Chevy Express or something, but after driving this beast I was hooked. I'm about to get a seat put behind the front seats and a bulkhead. The back half will be for my upright cart and a follow cart, along with mats, furnis, and extra stuff. A basketball team can stand up in …

Hi all, So I've just got my new qrx100/trx900 camera hops. I'm using the qrx to send timecode from an xd xam to remote roll the recorder on my SD 552. I can't seem to find anywhere in the qrx menu system to set the ifb freq, and I couldn't find it in the manual (which is badly written and very uninformative! there's a very poor explanation of the tx control features.) there are also a few menus in the manual that aren't available on the actual unit. Any help is appreciated!

Has anyone had success with getting Time Code out of the Arri Alexa ? I was trying to make this happen for a scripty on a recent shoot, and could not seem to enable it. I was using my standard TC cables, wired for 5p Lemo, that seem to remain good. That wiring scheme has lasted from the Nagra STC to my HHB TC-DATs, to my Deva 5 ... I dug into the Alexa menus as much as I could but could not make this happen. An hour after giving up on this - I get a call from a colleague here in Atlanta trying to do the same thing ! I do not know about the camera software - but they came from Atlanta's top shop, so I have no doubts about them being most-curren…

Hi folks. I'm hoping to use my Lectro wireless, blocks 21 and 28, in London. I'm having difficulty finding any info on what might be on those blocks there. By what I can find, normal wireless blocks there are 30-33. Anyone have experience using our US blocks in Europe? Thanks, JP

Hi guys. Currently working on a shoot where I could use swing the image frame limit in order to boom closer. Looking at video transmitter and receiver kit that would work. I would need something that works in a bag and could be powered by my NP-1. Any ideas? Please if possible reasonable price ( as in less than 500$ ) would be appreciated. Thanks Pascal

Nice to see the Zephyx windscreen in use, Maxime Girard shooting in France (I'm sure it is s more popular item there than it is in the US). I have been very pleased with the Zephyx having done two movies so far where we used it on almost every exterior shot.

so what are you soundies using for storage of your antennas? i've got a small supply of rugged ziplock style bags that are 2.5" wide and 4" long but after about 6 months or so they start to blow out.
