I just got my first B6 and first day out threw the popscreen cap on. I haven't been able to remove it since, and of course, ripped the foam off. I feel like there has to be a trick I'm missing here.

Hey guys. been busy working and I finally got a nice sound kit. I have the Sound Devices 788T now and I can't quiet figure out how to fix this problem I'm having. I am trying to label the track names and for some reason Channel 3 and Channel 4 become the same name. It will not allow me to individually label those files. Can someone help me out. Could not figure it out. Example: I type Collector 1 for Track 3 and it makes Track 4 say Collector 1 as well. In the routing screen I don't have those tracks grouped. Thanks Nicole

A couple of sites are showing the use of the Brite View Air SyncHD as a way to broadcast HD signals up to 100+ feet: http://nofilmschool.com/2010/11/air-synchd-wireless-hi-def-video-village/ http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=22803 Over at reduser.net they started talking about the ASUS wicast as a solution, but quickly turned their attention to the Brite View: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51483 One of the posts to take note of was from the cinema5d site: "Hello Users of Cinema 5D! This is NOT an OFFICIAL Brite-View press release, however... There is a camera specialized unit in development with: Camera Mounting Ability Battery …

To the group, Does anyone have one of these RA products? I have two and I have to say I'm slightly unimpressed with their brightness. I have two for my work area and i'm thinking that I possibly have an earlier production run or ..? They aren't really bright enough to work under when its fully night out! Maybe I will have to switch to littlelite. Any thoughts? Thanks Eric

OK, I know you veterans wont be interested in this but I was in need a quick cover for my newly purchased PSC cart. Raining here in Chicago. Thought about a Weber round grill cover, too small. At Home Depot I found the solution. A cover for a round AC unit, about $5 does the trick, ever covers folded out top shelf and protruding cable hooks. Cheap, but goes on quickly , better that getting caught in the rain. Tom

I just got a call from a mixer I rented some equipment to (Thankfully not my 302) and I wanted to ask if this can happen: He is mixing a low budget feature and is using a Y Cable to split the output of the 302 to send the signal to a Fostex Fr-2 and a HD Camera of some type( I told him this is a bad idea but they did it anyways). Last week he called me and said the 302 mixer was hot to the touch and acting funny so I told him to send it in for repair. According to him the Fr-2 and Camera both had Phantom power on and fried his 302 mixer because phantom power was being sent into the mixer through the output. I told him I wasn't sure this was the issue I would just like t…

Hey hey, I've been thinking of building/acquiring a follow cart to replace my current solution: a small hand truck with some cases stacked on it to hold my comteks/wires/hardware/zeppelin, etc. I know alot of people on this forum are partial to the magliner type carts, but practically that wouldn't work given the small budget jobs i work on and the height of an average walk up apartment here in NY. Does anyone here have any insight into a compact upright style follow cart design? Thanks, Joe

Hello, I just did a infodrama gig today with a Panasonic HVX-202 Camcorder. I notice that the return levels to my 442 was low (-4 on scale) when I set the recording level on the Camcorder to the first line (which should be -20) and crank up the little knob on the side of the mixer. I had to set the Camcorder levels to the second line in order to get the return levels on the 442 to 0 on scale. My return feed was from the RCA output of the camcorder. Just like to find out whether the first line on the camcorder is it -20? or does my 442 needs a visit to the doctor?

Just made this discovery the other day when the talent asked "Don't you have one of those things that clips to my belt". Take one Audio 2040 and a Lectrosonics IFB holder and, well, the pictures explain.

Hi - I'm journalist who also researches material about sound issues for documentary filmmakers (Europe and NAmerica); and also present for a general audience, via public radio. Who has field experience with the SuperCMIT ? The mic has been out for four months. Also, is there anything new in the technology of the mic, that is substantially different from other mics? Schoeps says it's the only fully digital shotgun mic on the market now that can meet professional standards (emphasis on professional). If 'fully digital', how does it sense the sound? I heard the mic in a demo, in a busy convention-type environment. It's very impressive for someone trying …

Does anyone know how to wire a "Line Out" cable for a Comtek PR 216? A straight thru cable does not always work. You need to load down the PR to think it has a headphone plugged and match the impedance to the line input of what ever your plugging into. Thanks for your help.

While I was researching a solution for the Traveler I have I found this one for sale in Orland Park, IL:http://www.musicgoround.com/detail.aspx?id=983587 I emailed them about the "As Is" condition & received this response: "The Traveler is marked as is because we are unable to test firewire units fully in the store. It is marked significantly lower than typical used prices to reflect this. Basic functionality was tested, but we do not have a firewire equipped computer in the store. We would offer a DOA warranty on it if you're interested, meaning we would gladly take a return on it if you found that the firewire functions do not work, or if there are any other u…

Cleaning up my comteks and client listening systems. I have at least 20 cheap headsets with foam earpads and they are all torn up. I hate the foam earpads! They always tear way too soon and i tired of going to "the shack" to buy more just to replace them again a few jobs later. Question: Can anybody recommend a cheap headset that does not have the open cell foam earpads. Preferably with a reasonably lengthed cable for use with comteks. thanks in advance! john

I have an issue with my matched 8040s. They both work but one of them sounds different then the other. Frequency response is close to each other but sounds different even to my wife. White noise and pink noise samples are noticeably different between the 2 mics. Warranty expires in 1 month. I called them explaining the issue and they said they would only fix/exchange a mic that is not working properly. They would not replace both with a matched pair. I just feel hurt by a company that sold me MKH416, MKH60, MKH8040, The entire 900 evolution microphone series, pair of G3s, HD25 II, HD280. Not to mention the MANY MANY times I recommended them to other people Conside…

Good afternoon, I recently lost the original CL-100 that came together with my G2 100 (sobz) so currently I'm using a balanced cable with the following configuration: Tip (2), Ring (3), Sleeve (1) on my G2 Rx for a gig in the evening time later. I'm not sure if there will be any difference using a balacned cable on the g2 100 because I know the original cable that came with it is unbalanced. Do let me know if what I'm doing is not advisable so I can run down to the audio shop to get the correct cables.

With the STA??? two track adapter. Pros, cons? I get just enough calls that this recorder might fill the bill nicely, and not be the weight or costs of a 702T! Almost everything I do is with gear on my shoulder. I have a SQN 4Smini that is a very nice mixer and it would be paired with whatever I get. thanks to all... cleve

I've been trying for months to get hold of anyone at Loon. At first they wouldn't return emails or calls from either myself or Gotham Sound (imagine ignoring one of your own retailers!), then their number went straight to a recording saying that the mobile customer was not available. Now, as of yesterday, the telephone number on their website is out of order. All of this followed some rather testy customer service served with a helping of attitude way back when I was able to reach them at all. A.

I'm looking to upgrade from my AT-4073a (growing tired of it's mid-range thin sound) which served me well. Beyond the subjective hearing test of these three mics I'm considering, I'm looking for the most recommended for ENG and Film work: interior, exterior, less handling issues, and isolation from off axis aka: reach. KMR81i, CMIT5U, CS3e. Fire away please

Just thought I would ask if I could put lithium aa Batteries in my Deneke TS-C timecode slate. I have a bunch that came out of my Zaxcom hop. Some I had to take out half way thru there life, so why not put them in the slate? Thanks everyone. Brian.

Without having my hands on one, I am wondering how the M/S monitoring and recording functionality of Zaxcom recorders compares to Sound Devices recorders. I enjoy my 702t because I can easily record discrete mid and side signals while monitoring in stereo which is great for recording SFX. I can also record the decoded stereo tracks which can be useful if post prefers it that way (which is often the case in the lower budget projects I work on where the video editor may be functioning as a sound editor as well.) Anyway I digress.... Is it possible to monitor multiple mid/side configurations with the Zaxcom line of recorders? From the various manuals (and ye…
