I noticed that the return signal has more low frequencies than the HP master. Even when I heard the L or R, etc. I tried with some recording devices and all same result. I suspect that my master HP has Some low cut. I would be happy if someone has an answer. (Of course, the Master and return have the same level) I use Sony MDR 7506. Does anyone have the same problem?

Anybody using the Remote Audio RX antennas for Lectros? Any thoughts or feedback? I like the idea of having the RX antennas in the bag being rigid.

Hey Folks. So I'm trying to convince the boss that we need some new shiny cables for our audio pack. The analogy I like to tell him is using bad cables is like eating a steak with a plastic fork. He insists our cables are fine, but I know better... I need a better argument (and brands) for new cables. JW... you're my only hope.

Wow, 184mhz switching bandwith! That would help with finding clear frequencies, yes? Although they don't seem to have a portable receiver that has the same ability.

Anybody uses the Ambient ALL601 to stamp a TC on Canon D50 (or same) cameras ? Is it a good choice? Any suggestion for a masterclock unit that would be as small as can be (bag use) ? Glenn (Zaxcom) , any hint about a possible unit (or IFB100 implementation maybe) that would eventually be released to do the job ? That would be nice to use, along with the ERX1TCD on cam (very small factor)...

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you guys have come up with any elegant/economical solutions to mounting a pair of Shark Fins and a Comtek Mini-Mite via a riser (Boompole/ Painter Pole) on a PSC Style Sound Cart. Thanks! -Chris

I'm stopping in Hong Kong at the end of the month, just wondering if anyone knows of some good stores that deal in professional audio and broadcast type gear?

Hi. I was recording outdoors, on a soccer field. I was on the opposite side of the field from the coach, who was lav'd with a Lectro um400 to a ucr401. The pilot indicator (triangle below the P on the lcd) flipped, and I got drop-out. In the manual, it says the indicator flips due to phase shift - Why does it phase shift (was I probably too far away?), and was that phase shift most likely the cause of the drop out? Thanks. John

This was the 2nd time it happened, and why I'm posting: to share the information and collect ideas for prevention. TRX900 in both cases was mounted menu/increment/decrement keys-in toward the actor's body, on the waist/belt. During a late take, the levels on the TRX were found to be waaaay high. Unusable. Later inspection found TRX levels in the high 40's. The first time this happened, I suspected the actor had taken the TRX off during a break and played with it. I now believe that the menu and increment buttons were inadvertently pushed simultaneously by the actors' bodies, and the gain subsequently pushed. In the recent event, the gain was pushed up to 47 and l…

I again came across this article containing a quick discussion on 75 ohm vs. 50 ohm cable. It seems to find that based on the specs, 75 ohm cable might come out ahead in the loss per 100' comparison. Wolf? http://www.audiosystemsgroup.com/Which_Coax_for_Wireless_Mics.pdf

Howdy. I lav'd a coach the other day in 20 mph winds. I put a hairy fuzz ball on a tiny cage over a sanken cos2 (I think it was a cos2), and clipped it onto his sweatshirt collar on the downwind side - not so good. I then took a tram and taped it with mole-skin against the inside of his sweatshirt at sternum level, mic facing out - not much better. Anybody have any tips for lav'ing on windy days on open fields when talent is wearing a sweatshirt over a polo shirt? Thanks! John

CMIT and the MKH50 1 2

Im entertaining the idea of getting a Schoeps CMIT. I already have an MKH50 that I love for indoor use, and wanted to ask if the CMIT would be a good compliment. They probably don't mix as well as two Schoeps mics, and they will probably mix fine if I ever have to use them on the same shoot, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone has had any experience or thoughts on the two mics together.

Hey Gang, I just tested out the Oktava MK-012 mic and I loved it. I can't get over a mic being that cheap could sound that good. I'm planning on picking up acouple. But i'd like a good windscreen for them. I hear the Schoeps B5D is pretty amazing. Do any of you know if they will work on the MK-012's? And I also just got a MKH50, suggestions windscreen for that would be wicked. Thanks guys. Justan

Hey All, The boss just ordered me an mkh60. I don't know much about this mic, other than a few reviews and a sound-test or two. Do any of you have any opinions on this mic? Ups and Downs? Things to take note while using it? Thanks very much! Alex

Hey Folks! So I'm looking for a little shed light on my question of "What is the difference between Line-Out and Tape-Out? Why are they there? What do they do? In what instance should I use which?" Many questions, so little time. Well, no, that's not true. Also, my not being a 25-year pro, I would totally appreciate a "simple" version of this no-doubt lengthy answer. Gracias, Danka, and Thank You Alex C

Sonic Studios surround mics and gear-WOW

If nobody has taken the time to either check out or use the very nice surround mics from this company, you really should give them a try... At least, give them a look!!!! http://www.sonicstudios.com/ I have owned a headset version for years, the DSM 6 model and love everything about them... They STILL work very well after a pretty long time... I especially like the design of being able to simply wear them on your head, with no handling noise what so ever, which provides a really nice uncolored surround image in a very tiny package... Many options of these mics as well as mounting options and connectivity options are offered. The company is small in size …

I know that Peli make a neat little case, with an insert to take 4 x CF cards. I have just worked with a stills photographer and she had one. Neat, strong, low profile, clamshell style, 2 cards in each half, very cool. But I cant find it on the Peli website..... Does anyone know the model number? Kindest, Simon B

So I'm really banking on the "no stupid questions" slogan of this forum. So the 552 is 5-channel. Which I get, five mics, 5 inputs for mics, so on. But I'll be linking straight to the RED via stereo 2 channel breakaway cable. So if I record my mix ON the 552 will my editor end up with 5 channels (or however many I use) in Final Cut? And will he only have 2 if using the audio that's linked to the R3D footage? If so, what determines which channels are mixed together? Just pans? Thanks! Alex C

Anyone know of a Sound Report app or anything similar for use on the iPhone? I'm getting more and more cross-over ENG/scripted work with the 5D or RED where I'm booming, mixing, recording and still expected to hand in a report. The old clip-board isn't too compatible with my bag system and it would be nice to just email my report to the editor. Thanks!

I had a quick peek at the new Audio Ltd stereo receiver today, very nice! True diversity, external/internal power, OLED screen, very small size, (the Rx is about 4.5" high, 2" wide and less than 1" thick) Runs on 2 AA batteries. It looks like it would make a great camera hop or just save tons of space in your bag rig.
