Hello All, I have a question for anyone using a Lectro SRA receiver with the battery sled. How much run time are you getting from your battery and what model of battery are you using? I'd like to purchase a couple of batteries for this purpose and strike a nice balance between size and run time. I'm hoping to find a solution that could be powered for most of the day with one or two batteries. Also, any experiences from those using the 9V battery box on the same sled would be much appreciated. Thanks. Alex

I'm renaming and bumping a thread that began as SB-T vs SB-3. Still hoping to get more opinions on the SB-T vs the Ambient Lockit. I'm leaning towards the locally made and supported product - Deneke SB-T, but still see many more Lockits on the job. Also, curious about what people are getting for rental - book rate at the rental houses is $50. a day. It seems a shame to let the camera houses get money for something that is handed to us to deal with on the set. Of course production never seems to question the rentals for the camera department. - i.e. that expensive lense that sits unused for the entire shoot. Ah, but that is a topic for another time. Most importantly,…

Hi: My bag setup is this: Cooper CS104 with direct out mod (set to post fader) to SD 744T. The problem is this, the direct out option on the Cooper taps the signal before the Cooper's tone generator. So, I am perplexed as to how I can set unity gain on the SD 744T. I cann plug the Cooper's main bus output to Channels 1 and 2 on the 744T and use the tone generator, but that leaves Channels 3 & 4 unaccounted for. It also assumes that the main outputs are at the same level as the direct outs, which I am dubious of relying upon. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi I did this gig yesterday at a large conference center. For some reason I got major radio-interference on my boompole mic, wich was wired with a standard XLR. Meanwhile my wireless lavs were not effected at all, so strange. After checking all my gear I asked a guy who worked there and he tolled me they had a wireless internet access in that particular room I was getting interference in. Could that somehow have gotten into my boom signal, through the cable or maybe even the mic? I've never experienced this before. Thanks / Rasmus

So, what is exactly happening when I'm using my SRa in dual channel mode and the antenna icon is flipping? I'm a bit confused about this.

I have to do a very short shoot next week where boom isn't really an option. The situation is that some high school kids are being shot while doing an oral exam. We did a full day shoot last February and decided the boom mic was making the kids, who are already under a lot of pressure, even more nervous. Not only are they being examined on what they're saying, but they aren't native English speakers - it was too intimidating. The setup is this: each kid will be sitting around a table (semicircle so they're facing each other but also visible to the single camera - which is not moving.) Each student will have a reasonably sized triangular white card (to identify …

Hello folks. Petrol now seem to be stocking the new Deca range of audio bags. As I'm in the market for a new bag and was planning on a Pegz-2 or 3, I wondered if anybody is using the new stuff yet and if there are any advantages over the originals. It's pretty hard to tell from the website photos. Kind regards James

do any of you guys have sankens that have become a tad gritty? Compared to a B6 or Tram cable... it seems not as easy to drop down a pant leg. is there a type of coating I can put on these lav cables?

just found out that all the strange things my TRX700 did was caused by the use of a micro SD+adapter instead of a standard mini-SD. Problems have been: display error (black bars blanking out half the screen), unit wouldn´t power on when using the switch, only when switched on already and then inserting the batteries, unit wouldn´t stay in Record-mode. But even with the standard miniSD one shouldn´t screw the battery cover too tight as this will lead to the same probs again. Matthias

Hi guys, just purchased a 744t and trying to find a good home for it in my Petrol pegz 1 bag without success. I've got a 442 in the section closest to my body, and the 744t out from that. The 744t fits but connectors are way too stressed by the walls of the bag which is not good. Annoyingly, the bag would be perfect if both sections had open sides for cables as I think I've seen with some Portabrace bags. I was thinking of cutting out a section of the sides somehow but they seem to be of some structural importance with the d rings on top and I could see that ending in tears. I know the Pegz 2 is a logical option but its seems much bigger than I actually need which c…

I currently work with a small system out of a bag with a 442/ 702t and 3 lectros 2 201s and 1 211 series. Most of my current calls are for corporate interviews, 2 or 3 people, talking heads and trade show interviews. Anyway I find myself being able to sit down and not have to be running and gunning. My question is for you that work off a smaller type cart , what do you use for receivers? I have been looking at the Letrosonics Venue System and their smaller compact unit. If I understand correctly these only work with the digital hybrid transmitters? I have seen several old quad units for sale but they look like you have to have removable antennas on the receivers to use …

I am a little late to the party to use the recording feature that has been available on all the Zaxcom wireless transmitters for years. As I start to work out how I would like to use this feature, I would like to know if they can be used in the following manner (anyone here with more experience can chime in --- I will also contact Zaxcom directly on this): by default, when powering up the transmitter it goes directly into record and continues to record until you shut it down or stop the recording locally on the transmitter. With Zaxnet, you can control the transmitter, almost if not all parameters, including recording transport. With Zaxnet enabled, I have to push STOP on…

Here's a piece of origami I've been wrestling with. Forgive me if I complexificate, and please let me know if you think I'm overthinking this or sweating the small stuff too much: I want to get a Lectro dual SRa receiver to fit in the unislot of a panasonic hpx2700. I'm told it's best for the camera hop to be on a different block from the talent. I can only buy one more wireless tx (it'll be smqv). So, do I choose block 21, or block 26 for the new dual Rx and singleTx? Our current inventory includes- RX: 2- ucr 201, block 21 1 ucr 401, block 26 TX: 1-um200c, block 21 1- um400, block 26 We also have: 1- uh200c, block 21 (end plug, no phantom powe…

I have been using Sandisk Extreme III CF in my Fusion. I have been told that Extreme III has been replaced with their Ultra model. Has anybody used the Ultras in a recorder yet? They are supposed to be twice as fast. Any replies appreciated.

Hey all, Is anyone experiencing increased RF emission with the latest 788T firmware? I am getting all kinds of RF muck on my block 20 411s, clean scans on my block 26 SR, but then I was getting what sounded like hits on the one transmitter that was fired up. All this is the bag in NYC btw. Haven't experienced any of this prior. Any thoughts? Best, Jesse

I am about to start a doc about a crazy artist who will most likely be smoking cigarettes during interviews . We will be doing several long sit down interviews with him. I plan on booming with a schoeps. But I am concerned about using the mic in a situation where it will be exposed to smoke. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a jammable backup recorder solution that can also be put on talent for difficult shots. I'd appreciate thoughts on this gizmo. It appears to be similar to the zfr100, just smaller. Thanks, Sean

I did a quick check here and on RAMPs, but didn't see any current references that worked for me. Anybody know of a decent price on 80" x 72" moving blankets that will work for sound? Ideally, I'd like to get them with grommets, so they could be easily attached to C-stands. The closest thing I've found are these from Movers Supplies.com: "Producers' Choice" blankets - $20.50 each http://www.moverssupplies.com/MOVING-BLANKET/ These appear to be identical to the B&W blankets sold for about $50-$60 from camera and grip supply companies, including FilmTools and B&H Photo. Even with shipping from NY to LA, the cost breaks down to under $25 each (in quantities …

I start a film soon and I found out about half of it is going to be handheld.... and a good amount of that will be in the woods. The first AC told me the kit list includes a Modulus, though we don't know which model yet. They will be using that for the handheld days, so there are no cables coming off the camera. I know they broadcast over UHF (great for wireless mics!). I'm pretty sure I have worked with them with steadycam rigs where I just tuned in the station. I know one steadycam operator I have worked with had a sharkfin hooked up to his receiver and it worked well. Has anyone ever used (needed?) a sharkfin, or some other directional antenna, to get better …

I'm trying to figure out my best way forward - new to the field, and purchasing as I go. I've learned very quickly that purchasing without having the end in mind can create some hefty buyers remorse down the road... I'm trying to decide about the optimal field mix set-up- mixer, recorder, and wireless stuff, while taking into consideration that I'm just starting out, and will need to buy as I go. I'm currently capturing audio for ENG style shoots, for television broadcast. I've been working with the 552, and I love it, but I worry about the limitations of being able to only record to two tracks. I have the chance to buy the 442 for about $1,600. If I did that,…

I've been thinking of getting a stereo rig, and realized I have most of the parts already. I have 2x CMC541. If I got a MK8, is there a suspension for this that will work with wind protection. Always used for outdoor use. I see the system on Schoeps website, but they don't have anything for real wind protection. It appears to be for stands, not boompoles. I am aware of the collette systems Schoeps offers, but is it possible with two CMC systems? Thanks
