While configuring my new bag my new Zaxcom trx 900 with STA 150 and RF Trap is bleeding into two of my lectrosonics Block 21 receivers. The Zaxcom unit is on Block 24 on 25 mw power output. If I put my old black zaxcom tx in the bag zero bleed. Zaxcom couldn't offer any suggestions except to move it farther away in the bag. So I wrapped the zaxcom in Reynolds Aluminum foil and the problem went away. This seems like a good solution to me what does everyone think. Also one of the two lectrosonics units was just serviced earlier this year so I don't think it is a bad unit. The bleed on the units is just as bad no matter that frequency it is on.

Recently, since the Panasonic 2700,3000,3700 have made a bigger presence after PSonics huge price drop, I have gotten a number of calls from Sound and Camera departments about a pretty hefty 3 frame/120millisecond Video Delay. The poor Post people seem to be squawaking about their audio offset in Final Cut . The flow seems to go like this: Audio Recorder is the master@29.97 (Panasonic is almost always 29.97), to Ambient/Denecke TC Boxes @29.97 applied to the Cameras which are recording AVC Intra Codec w/ TC crossconverted in-camera @ 23.976 (Although Panasonic system freq is 29.97) = 3 frame delay..... we're trying to track this problem and do a proper test/evaluation, …

I've been asked to find an audio solution for a new ob/doc about to go into production, situation is this: 1 classroom 1 Teacher 12 Students 3 HDV cameras 1 ENG Sound mixer NO Hard disc recorder NO Money When the pilot was shot there were issues with missing important dialogue from the students because there was only 1 sound mixer with boom to cover all 12 students. Teacher was on radio mic. Most of the dialogue is coming from the teacher, who throws questions at the students every now and then. My suggestion was to group the 12 students onto 3 tables in groups of 4, and use a low profile lecturn style mic (Rode NT6) on a gooseneck on each of the 3 tables, …

So as not to clutter up "View From The Office," I'll start a new topic. Sonosax has SX-ES64 info on their web site. This new little cutie is listed as "now shipping." They also have the manual, block diagrams, and connector wiring diagrams. http://www.sonosax.ch/mixers/sxes64/sxes64_index.html Hopefully, Glen T. will favor us with a review soon. John B.

The Remote Audio "SHUNT BOX" that was mentioned several weeks ago is now available. It is ideal for cart setups that use a battery and/or power supply with a homemade distribution system. It can also function as a "smart cable" for monitoring voltage and amp draw. Read all about it here: http://www.remoteaudio.com/shunt_box/ . Glen Trew

Hello, I am setting up my 788T for use next week, and am seeking opinions about limiter settings. The 788T gives you the option for "soft-knee" which I intend to use. It claims to start engaging the limiters at about 6dB less than the set threshold. I would like to see what experience people have with this working properly or not. I would also like to ask what limiter thresholds different people have set (-12dB to -2dB), and what recovery time (down to 50 msec) people have used and/or would recommend. Thanks, Robert

This just happened to me today.... Lectro Venue, Fostex PD-6 and some other random things plugged into a PSC cart power distro box. Mackie Onyx 1220 board plugged into a pure sine wave inverter. There is a terrible noise coming through the board (main outs, headphone, everything). Also every channel on the board shows the -20 light lit. The noise is kind of pulsing as opposed to a steady hum. I have the noise if the inverter is plugged in to the Cart Power or tapped directly off the Optima battery. If i unplug the PD-6 and Lectro Venue from the Cart Power, it goes away. It seems to be some sort of ground loop situation, but it does not make the normal ground loop hum. …

Hello, Maybe some of you have had this happen to one of your older 416's.. The pins are loose and wiggle around when you touch them. They're so loose that even when the mic is plugged in the pins shift slightly causing loud taps in the audio.. At least, I think this is what's happening. When booming I hear this when doing a fast swivel move with the mic. Anyone have a fix for this or is a tune-up from Sennheiser in order? I've taken the case off my 416 once before but didn't know how fragile the internals are and closed it back up promptly. Can anybody speak for what the turn around time is like when sending Senn gear back to Connecticut for work? Than…

Dear All, I had the opportunity of adding the IFB 100 to my cart on a stage "Brilliant" We toyed with it in a few different configurations with RED, TRX900/Stereo adapter, RX900s, It's a time saving confidence builder offering many options for TC , program signal and monitoring. We swaped the supplied antenna to a (Tin Can) "waveguide circular antenna".. Without measuring line impediance and VSWR.I would guess 5 to 13dbi. We didn't have a "Bird" or instrument to measure the PO, FS, ERP. The tin can was available, cheap and it gave us a greater distance over the supplied antenna. (The IFB100 proved to be a rock solid delivery system using the supplied antenna a…

Greetings I purchased a Cinela M/S mount recently, along with a Schoeps CCM41. I am getting a Schoeps CCM8 over the next month, to be able to set up an M/S rig. I was wondering whether I would face a problem Phantom powering the cage. Cage outputs a 5 M XLR using common ground and 4 pins for the respective hot and cold of the M and S mic. I made a mini starquad Mogami stereo cable with 5 XLR, Male and Female Neutriks which I split at the end just before my mixer with a 5 XLR Y cable to 2, 3 XLR M . When the rig is hard plugged, the mixer feeds the 2 3 XLR cables the respective P48 voltage and everything runs smoothly as I 've tried the CCM41 both on the M and on …

Hello, I am currently using the Zaxcom camera link and a Black Box Timecode sender/receiver. Timecode is TOD. So when the camera turns over I turn my Black Box receiver 'on' the TRX900 (in Auto Load mode) sees the timecode rolling and goes into record, all good. But very occasionally the RF on the Black Box tx/rx fails and the TRX900 drops out of record, not good. I know that I could just set it too Record and leave it running all day but this would obviously produce lots of Recordings I do not need. Is there a way of manually PAUSE/RECORD on the TRX900 without going into menus? Or any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Dave.

I know one boom who uses one and he has no idea if it helps him or not. Just wondering if anyone else has taken the plunge with these connectors and has a comparison. And by the way does anyone know if mic RFI can affect your tx to rx signal strength? Thanks, Dan Izen http://www.neutrik.com/us/en/audio/204_1603252336/EMC-XLR_Series_productlist.aspx

I am planning on implementing a CAT 5 setup for my connection to the video assist department. This would simplify the cabling for what is already a very simple setup for me: typically I only need 2 video feeds to my monitors on the cart and 1 mono audio feed to the video assist cart. I have the proper baluns and all that but I don't know what people are using for the actual CAT 5 cable run. I like the idea of running 1 inexpensive CAT 5 cable but if that is always getting damaged what's the point. So the question: Who makes pre-built high quality CAT 5 (or better) cable in 50 to 100 foot lengths? I would expect that these cables should be able to behave just like high …

DPA 4060 Blm

Hello all, anyone tried or using the dpa 4060 blm? I have a sanken cub and it just never really does it for me. It's useful because of it's size but soundwise I find it's a million miles away from my schoeps or dpa lavs. I've spotted the dpa boundry and I wonder if anyone uses it. It looks a lot bigger than the sanken. Wonder if it sounds like a 4060 as the name suggests? Cheers.

First off this isn't a question about how to run wireless, I've chosen to keep the receivers on the cart and use high gain antennas. I'm looking to add 2 more remote antennas. It sounds simple and I've heard reference to some of you having these in the forum, but I can't seem to find one to purchase. I'm running 8 diversity receivers through a PSC 1x8 multi dual antenna splitter. That gives me 16 RF outputs with 2 RF inputs, in my case PW's helicals. But I want to be able to run 4 helicals, keeping 2 on the cart (usually enough for all situations, 25' of RG8 apiece), and the other 2 for longer remote runs when necessary. So I want 4 RF inputs to the PSC box,…

Just a quick pitch for 302 users out there... Please tell me if the following would interest you. A small box, (a bit like the Betabox), but with female XLRs which plugs into your 302s XLR outputs and has a panel mount Multi Pin Hirose connector on other side and a fly lead jack for your return. No Bigger than 2 D shells and the box will only be about 10mm in length not including the Hirose or the XLRs. Basically puts you a loom connector on your 302. Priced around £50GBP/$85USD Would this interest the 302 users out there? Thanks, John
