Anyone own a wireless handheld that will play as late 1980s talk-show mic? The sample they have looks like the SM58 cylinder-type with a small antenna out the bottom. Hoping for one that's be able to be received with my Lectro block 21/22 receiver. Thanks, Robert (818) 304-3066

I have bought a 2nd CUB-01 and have added the TA5 breakaway to my 1st CUB-01. Do people have success/failure with using their CUBs with either the Lectro SM or 400 transmitters? Robert

I'm new to this forum but a constant lurker/occasional poster to ramps so hello all. Some backstory on my question: I bought some used older Microns (500 series) a little while back. They have been working pretty well so far but I really don't trust the antennas that they came with. They're pretty flimsy and I get some range issues at distances shorter than I would prefer(using Lectro sharkfins into an RF distro/filter feeding 4 recievers). I'm sure that some of the range issues is because of the equipment itself (the manual doesn't list the transmitting power anywhere). A friend of mine had a similiar situation with some older Audio Limited gear that had the same k…

Looking for the small rubber "crutch" style tips for ladies heels. My show seems to have an endless parade of loud spike heels on hard surfaces. Especially looking for the small ones that can't be found in the Home Depot/Lowe's/Osh stores. These sizes are 3/8 and 1/2 inch black rubber tips. Any sources? ~pwp

I'm thinking about getting Logic Pro 8 for playback on set, I have been using my Macbook running windows Vista and Sound Forge or Acid but my Mac crashed I lost the HDD and I'm taking no chances this time with windows. I downloaded Audacity but I need more editing options than it offers. I would look into a Protools system but I am already using the Motu Traveler. All opinions appreciated, LL

To all you guys who have replaced your 40Gb hard drives with bigger ones. Any problems, how is the power consumption, what would be your recommendations as far as the different models available? B

I have a one-day rooftop shoot for a kind of reality/interview show soon and I've had all kinds of wind-protection issues with my B6 and COS-11 that, for the moment, aren't solved. I was thinking of trying the Lectro M152's, which come with a nice, big wind screen. I have heard it said that they aren't terrific but I'm wondering if I shouldn't try them in this case for two reasons: better wind protection than I'm getting at the moment from my other mics AND sound is being recorded to DVX's. Is the sound of the M152 so poor? A.

I'm sure a lot of people have similar stories. Well Maybe. So I usually use my laptop in my living room on my coffee table and I usually wear headphones so I don't bother my girlfriend if she's watching TV. And since I have 7506 headphones in my kit why would I use anything else? So those are what I use. Last night me an my girlfriend were browsing online on the couch and no paying attention to anything else. So we stop browsing and i put the computer down and what do i see on the floor? I see this: Yes, lots of pieces. And the culprit? You gotta be kidding me? I really like those headphones, thanks for the $100 chew toy.

Is there a difference in the reception effectiveness of the various shark-fin (Log Periodic) antennas available on the market? Or is the difference only in quality and workmanship (and price)? Bob

I just worked with the Red camera for the first time. We started the day on Build 15, which had all 4 audio inputs active, as well as 3 video monitors, 2 on board, and one for video village. Everything was going smooth, but they began to format a drive, and the whole thing froze up. Between finding out what was going on, calling the company, and returning to build 13, we lost a good hour. Build 13 only has 1 audio channel, which was fine, as I used my Schoeps all day. Not to worry, I'm rolling a 744t as well. The camera is definitely noisy, on par with a PC fan, when rolling, and like a hair dryer when powering up, and some other sporadic moments. The best part of the sho…

Chinhda has added a feature to the sound cart. All carts will now be equipped with a special bracket to provide rear support for rack drawers and other gear mounted on the lower frame rails. Photos can be seen on the site: http://www.productionrecording.com/Tools/ChinhdaCartV3.html There is no extra charge for this bracket. Cart prices, by the way, are now posted on the site. Chinhda will also be selling special brackets, like tie-downs for the Cooper mixer, Sound Devices recorder, Aaton Cantar recorder, etc. as separate items. While intended for use with the Chinhda cart, these are equally useful on Magliner carts or whatever you may have. The individual …

Here's another odd-ball request: Does anyone know where to find the molding that protects the edges of sound cart shelves. I've seen it mostly on PSC carts, and it's usually gray or black in color. Does this stuff have a name? Some people have referred me to auto part stores and boat stores, but I've come up empty handed. Any help? Thanks! Lee Ascher Los Angeles, CA

Quote from: Izen Ears on Today at 01:40:06 I can't wait to get my TX-900AAs (less than a week!) Dan Izen what freq are your TRX-900 on? When using these units in Europe (block 31, around 800MHz) they are waaaay more noisy then the Lectros. RF is getting back into the mic and you will get a noisefloor like hell. Believe me I have been in trouble with it since I bought that unit. I just stick with it because there is still some hope that some matched DPA lavs will do the trick and as you have said - the rec option is sooo cool. Matthias Hi Mathias. what microphones are you using at the moment? and is your transmitter fitted with the internal mod of the resistor…

I looked for it at Home Depot but they had no idea what I was talking about, and when I search Google all kinds of wacky products come up. I want those little sheets like Mr. BVS uses in this example: http://www.jwsound.net/SMF/index.php?topic=1679.0 I did get Joe's Sticky Stuff a few shows ago and it made such a difference, but I still can't find that thin neoprene! Thanks, Dan Izen

recently had a chat with one of the local dealers in my area regarding my plans to acquire two wireless units from overseas forums. he warns me of the risk that many other wireless users in singapore faced when they import units frm overseas. many of the units re-sold in ebays and forums are found to have their serial number removed or scratched as they r believed to be stolen items. just like to find out where is this serial number found on the units? is it true lectro does not service units without proper serial numbers?

I'm looking to add a long shotgun to the kit in order to get something usable out of those landscape wide shots. I've decided against the MKH 70 since it doesn't seem to have much more reach than the MKH 60, so I was thinking about the mighty 816. I know they don't make them anymore and I know they weigh a ton, but I wanted to be able to get dialog at 30 feet. Someone I respect just told me the Sanken long shotgun is smaller and lighter, and compares to the 816 in its tight pickup pattern and incredible reach. It would be great because it's so much smaller and lighter than the 816, but would it give me the same sound on those ultra-wide shots? Anyone here use bot…

I am growing tired of having to move around to improve Comtek/IFB reception for video village and/or my boom guys. I have a BST-50b, which proves most reliable for my boom ops, but does have problems sometimes. I have a portable M-72 for clients, which either lives on my cart if I am close to video village, or lives on video village at the end of my BNC/XLR audio video multi-cable. At times when I don't care about seeing the picture, I still find that I have to run a cable for the M-72 or move closer (which I don't like to do, usually). I have been toying with a pair of Listen Technologies S100 transmitters, which claim to have the same output rating as the Comtek p…

Tascam came out with the v1.05 update for the HD-P2 audio recorder. They don't mention on their web site what is in the update and I emailed Tascam a week ago about it and haven't heard back from them. I have v1.04 right now. What is in v1.05, is it worth upgrading, is there any problems with v1.05? thanks

I'm always mystified by the difference between the lectrosonics 201 and 211, and its next generation 401 and 411. i now hav a deal for a used pair of 201s which costs cheaper than the pair of 211s. so just like to find out if the difference in performance is worth the difference in cost

Was just curious if anyone uses the antenna outputs on the Venue for their TV tuner. I know these outputs are supposed to be "tuned" for the specific block (21-22 for me), but does it make that much difference for Modulus/Canatrans reception. Will it affect my wireless mic reception? Don't want to try it out and then mess up something inside the Venue. Thanks in advance, Robert
